What’s up fellas. I recently just rolled my 96 xtra cab with the 2.7. I just purchased a 04 With the 2.7 with a no start issue. I haven’t had a chance to mess with it at all. The previous owner thinks it’s in the bottom end. I heard it turn over and couldn’t hear nothing unusual while doing so but the battery was on its last few turns. It’s a frame recall truck and pretty clean and I couldn’t pass up the deal. I bought it right with intentions of just dropping another engine in it. I know the top end is diff with the 96 being distributor and 04 being coil. My question is are the bottom ends the same if it does have issues on the bottom end?

also is everything mounted to the frame the same? My rolled 96 still runs and drives straight and has a solid frame. I was thinking of holding onto it if axles, tranny/transfer, pretty much everything will be good spares.

I apologize for so much on my first post but these 2 projects going in a matter of days has me stumped where to go. This is my first forum in yrs, Any info would be greatly appreciated
