I paid this guy $40 to make a set of steering rack bushings. Apparently delrin is pretty easy to work with and you can hand make bushings on a wood lathe, but I don't have access or feel like adding another large tool to my already cramped garage.

It took a minute and a lot of different key words but I ended up finding a few threads on racedezert about them. An upper mounted resi made shocks run cooler but a higher chance for cavitation. Lower mounted was less chance for cavitation but could still happen while the shocks will run hotter.

a top mounted resi has better more consistent rebound dampening while a lower one requires a more aggressive rebound valve.

cavitation is very little on a lower mounted resi but still present vs an upper mounted with higher chances. An upper mounted also has that delay of fluid being forced back into the body when coming from the resi.

I guess there’s ways to make Both work effect and both have their advantages and disadvantages. And mind you everything I’ve read is pre 2012 or earlier for tech so more tech could have come out in the last few years that isn’t found on the ole google.

link to one forum link I was reading.
    https://www.race-dezert.com/forum/threads/reservoir-outlet-top-vs-bottom.27720/

At the end of the day for the average joe like me I’m sure they’ll work great and if I can’t get them to my liking I’ll post em for sale for what I paid for them and put the money towards New ones.

EDIT: and a disclaimer. I know next to nothing about bypasses. I understand how valving/rebound/compression work from dirt bikes but have no experience doing any of this so if I’m way off please correct me.

Dirt Designs does. I know Kartek stocks a very small selection of them just not sure what applications they work for.

Thanks I've checked out Kartek. They're like $15 a piece and hoping to find them for less. Definitely emailing Steve!

For anyone who’s ever thought about trying to get boots over heim steering I found these https://www.kartek.com/parts/fox-30...t-13-long-1-12-to-1-34-end-loop-diameter.html
They work pretty well with the tundra rack swap. Would probably need some rubber to make the Tacoma rack bigger to be able to tighten the boot to the rack nicely. I did put a strip of 1/8” rubber around the heim rod to make it fit tight.

I use the tundra OEM boot on mine with good effect. You just have to put the boot on the tie rod before installing the heim joint.

yeah i tried that and it seemed like the inner heim just pulled the boot off the rack because the boot wasn't large enough for the inner heim bolts to slip thru.

I had to trim down the inner heim bolt anyway, in order to get it to slide into the rack.

lol still using the tt kit. this center mount is for the buggy behind the truck.

were talking about a DYI stage 2 truck center mount though.. either that, or making custom uppers for my TT kit and then doing a 2.5/4.0 12" combo. thats down the road though. for now were just gonna cage the front and tie it all in to get it driving and then see if we wanna go that far to cut the front end off. Id like to have horizontal lowers and uniball lower inners, billet upper arm. Then big steering upgrades

these get shipped for the rear though tomorrow.
