Before dropping the coin on new ones, I'd at least inspect them, though cutting them will make that difficult unless you can weld. I was able to inspect the 1st cat with an endoscope through the O2 bung.

I was reading an article recently about the uptick in catalytic converter theft going on everywhere, apparently China recently implemented stricter emissions laws on their vehicles to combat the huge smog problem they have in their bigger cities, as a result palladium prices started to soar.

A Prius in our area got his jacked last month and driving down the block that thing sounded like a damn tractor. A Prius was the last thing I expected when I looked outside to see what the noise was lol. Apparently they are big targets for theft because the hybrid tech means their cats are generally cleaner and worth more.

It’s almost an epidemic out here. At my shop we are getting 10-20 a month and many more are going elsewhere.

we had four get towed from one apartment complex in one day

I literally just had to fix that spot as I broke mine today. All you need to do is solder two wires in the pins in my photo and it will work.

Well, you at least had the plastic all the way to the socket. I’d have to fab something all the way out. I’m going to return it to the pick and pull and look for another one.

i bought neo wedge T4 bulbs off of Amazon. The ones I found didn’t have the right size gap in the plastic though so I needed to file them down a little to fit properly.
