    Each z-drag is 3:1. With 5 pulley's I'm getting 15:1. Maybe? lol

Doh! Yep, that's my no-bueno. The final pull is limited by the total travel of the first pulley. That's what I couldn't get 'unfocused' on.

I looked on outta the window
And I started countin' phone poles
Goin' by at the rate of four to the seventh power
Well I put two and two together
And added 12 and carried five
And come up with 22 thousand
    Telephone poles an hour

Hi lift jack if you don’t get stuck often. The hi lift is nice because you can also lift a wheel to put rocks wood or other stuff under it. The hi lift has saved me from walking out of bfe nevada twice since may. Even if I have a winch the hi lift is always coming. Also recommend at least 3. 2 inch by 3/16 angle irons. About 4 foot each to use as ground anchors. Use chain to picket anchor them.

here is a video of me using a hi lift jack, to get my truck out of a mud hole in the nevada high desert. in a situation like this while seemingly innocent at glance, its a 20 mile walk to any cell service or any sort of help, this area will not see a vehicle for weeks or perhaps months. this is what's called self rescue, its essentially an emergency, IMO. whats funny is the next time i needed the hi lift, it was because I got stuck in flour dust, LOL. again without the hi lift I get a 20 mile walk.

Inch by inch, I love it. Usually if I can move it a couple of inches I can get it out. Sometimes, however it doesn't work out that ways.

You used the jack to extract the anchors?

Cant remember. I think just whacked em back and forth with the hammer and lifted them out. Although hi lift would probably do it too if needed.

Hi lifts will as shown eventually get you out. But if you’re reticent about buying an electric winch look into something like the Bushwinch. It’s a commercial version of what we used to make up from old rims and other bits & bobs.

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
Those wheel hubs are also sold currently by an Australian company. I like that snatch block on the front bumper to keep the line straight going to the hub, certainly a great idea.

Personally, I really like cable pullers. Since we don’t have trees in the desert and a lot of times boulders are rare as anchor points, plus I’m not gonna dig a hole to bury a spare tire as an anchor. So I got a pull-pal 8 ton land anchor and a matching 8-ton grip-hoist with 50’ of cable. With that I can pull from any direction - sides, rear and front, and it can be easily shared between vehicles. They aren’t cheap and cost much more than a good quality winch, but for adaptability and running various wire lengths and tackle setups, the can’t be beat. That’s why most fire and rescue services use them.

The JET wire puller costs is a close copy and costs much less than the Griphoist. I’ve used both for work with the Forest Service and they were both dependable.
