So I recently bought a 1989 mighty max, it's all stock and in decent shape. It was too good a deal to pass up, especially since I had been trying to find a toyota 4x4 from this era. however I would like to get it running well before the summer comes around.
Unfortunately, I don't have a place to store and work on it in nashville untill my wife and I buy a house late in the year.
Does anyone have any ideas about where I could rent a place to work on the vehicle, store it, and have an electrical outlet for tools? most self storage places don't allow for work on the vehicle, and most importantly don't have electric outlets.IMG_20201229_211656_506.jpg

The Pacer wheels on my truck were on a Mighty Max that got T-boned in an intersection 30 years ago DB00D917-206B-4190-804F-27DCC7512EDB.jpg

I really like all of the older styles of wheels, a lot more conservative or squared off. More interesting.

    Nice find!

Find a friends garage or drive way and tarp it. Keep an extension cord inside for when you work on it?

That's is my usual strategy, especially with my parents back home, don't really have those kind of connections yet down here. Currently the truck is in indiana with family in a barn for the winter. Im hoping I can get those types of connections with a church we are going to. Maybe throw in some cash for the favor.
Really makes me hate apartments, plus the not building equity part.

I know what you mean. Hope it all works out for you.

Looking forward to seeing the progress on it. Looks like a nice little project truck

I know it's not a toyota:rofl: but there will be a build/fix thread later in the year.

From what I'm seeing, no business offers a kind of service where you can rent a space to both store and spend significant time there or fix stuff.

Nice truck! Try and find a local business that is renting space. A lot of places will rent part of their warehouse or parking lot. Some mechanic shops will rent out a space in their back lot. I'd stay away from commercial type self storage places for what you need. Call around to some local businesses. Make sure you have contract in writing when the time comes. Goodluck!

I'm going to have to ask around, now that you gave me the idea. I may have some unknown connections with those types of arrangements through my work.
Gonna have to do a lot of phone calls and asking around.

I was in a similar position five years ago. I rented a small (I think it was 800 Sq.Feet) unit in the back of an Industrial park. It had power and lights. Some of the larger units had a bathroom and office space. It worked well for me for a couple of years until I bought another house and was able to move everything home.

I was talking to my employer and he actually offered to pay for a place for me to keep it. Sweet. Problem is I still need a place to work on it.
Right now I changed my plan a bit, and am going to smack two weekends at work together and head back home in indiana sometime in late February to fix it and get it running. Basically a balls to the walls restoration project over three days with as many friends I can get to help. Then I can park in a storage facility, or at a friend's house, my friends won't mind a running car:rofl:

So far I'm doing all timing chain parts, water pump, tune-up, head gasket, frame restoration and paint, some welding of cross members too rotten to save, a clutch and all associated parts.

Any other parts I should keep in mind to swap out just because? My wife likes it enough she gave me a bigger budget. 800$ plus money for a door. Already spend 550.
