    Bumping this, do you smart electronics folk think it would be possible to upgrade the usb port (like to usb c above or more power) while also retaining its ability to connect to apple play? The original one must be some low ass amps, barely charges.

    It's not the port, it's your cable most likely. Mine charges quite well. Unless you have a high draw apps running in the background. I can leave work with 60% roughly and be between 80 and 90% by the time I get home. That's running music and have map up so I can watch for traffic issues. 20 minute drive.

    I don't think so. I think the radio powers the Airplay USB Port, while the others run off 12v. The radio would be the limitation, not the port.

    However, I do commend Toyota for future-proofing the Taco. USB-C is becoming the new standard and Apple has talked about making an I-Phone with no ports (besides an external/magnetic diagnostic connection), so the wireless charging might become useful.
