Great minds think alike. What started as simple side lights for my rack morphed into brake/reverse/turn/side spot lights. It’s so tempting to throw “scene light” function in there too, but at some point I just have to stop myself.

But what you are looking to do is absolutely doable. Also a good example of where a more customized approach is the best I think. When I get running on all this, I’ll let you know if you’re interested. Yours would have to be 2 taps, because of the turn signals, but it’s doable. Also, real easy to just make all this stuff feed relays. Or so I’ve heard....

Absolutely! I am all for the free flow of info. After all, without the help I've received from others, (cough... @caribe makaira @MESO ...cough...) I'd be lost on this stuff!

The housings are Sumitomo TS 090 seires. The male is the tricky one to find:
    3P090 Type TS /waterproofing/ Male terminal side coupler kit triangle - [color Gray] M090WP-TS/3P090WPK-TS-99179-M - hi-1000ec.com (hi-1000ec.com)
The females are a little easier:
    3P090 Type TS /waterproofing/ Female terminal side coupler kit triangle - [color Gray] F090WP-TS/3P090WPK-TS-99179-F - hi-1000ec.com (hi-1000ec.com)
    or
    3-Way Kit (corsa-technic.com)

I would recommend using a 14 gauge terminal (I used the male pin, but which side doesn't really matter) for where you are cramming the 2 wires into it. I used 18 gauge TXL. GXL is a thicker insulation, but its makes it pretty hard to fit both wires in one terminal. Sourcing this stuff is where it starts to suck though. hi1000-ec has a great selection, but the shipping will get you. And they don't offer much selection for terminal size. Corsa Technic is also great, but they only stock the female (for now, I did write them before the holidays to see if they could carry this one and a few others, so we'll see). But, with Corsa Technic, you can get the larger seals and terminals.

Probably even less cost effective, I harvested parts from this towing harness for my topper brake light.

@Puppypunter ; if vehicle has towing package, the main 15A fuse gets split downstream of relay to 10A for Tow and "5A" for vehicle.

Three T harnesses for $50 isn't bad at all. Each of those connectors are $2-$4 ish + shipping which could well end up being $25, plus they are all pinned and sealed which is where you'd blow that $50 out of the water trying to source raw parts yourself. Excellent find for the DIY hacker!

That would be a great place to power a relay from.

I got one of these and can’t figure out how to get it working with my brake light. I’ve tried every combination. Don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s not compatible with the meso‘s tail lights.

Did you install it before the MESO harness or after.

With regards to "need two taps", I haven't looked at the wiring diagram yet, but with the Tow Package and 7-pin connecter, my plan was to make an inline plug here to pull taps off for brake, turn, etc and run up into the cubby or cut a hole and do some type of waterproof connector through the bed. The OEM tow package wiring already taps into both sides to capture the turn signals.

But it combines Stop & Turn on the output to left & right.

@Puppypunter what are you using for the Sumitomo crimps? The smallest weatherpack die I had didn't work very well.

I use a weatherpack crimper. Is yours bending them?

Bending occurred but it was minor and easily fixed with better placement. I had issues with the sockets I got that I couldn't get a tight enough crimp on the wire part of the crimp. The pins I got worked fine. Could be that using a ratcheting frame wouldn't let me get tight enough for the sockets. Anyways only had to do 3x sockets and 3x pins so I definitely wasn't going to buy the 'proper' Rennsteig tooling.

Yeah, I have to make sure they are lined up properly. If I go too small, it deforms the terminal. But I’ve gotten used too it, so it’s pretty painless now. I do need to invest in a dedicated crimper for these though.
