Love it, my first car was a 1972 FURY II - 2-door in B5 blue. It only had a 318 but it was still a fun car. Here’s a photo of exactly what it looked like.

Many a crazy time spent in this car in my teens.

My first "true love", and will always be my favorite: My 1968 Pontiac GTO.. I had lots of miles with smiles, with that car!

I know the feeling. My first true love was my 1969 Ram Air IV GTO. It’s not like panties dropped on sight but....

Lots of fake Judges out there. A buddy of mine recently was trying to talk a guy down in price on a 1969 that was supposed to be real Judge. He ran the numbers and realized it not only wasn’t a Judge but it wasn’t even a real GTO. A Lemans hiding underneath the carousel red [orange] paint. Had all the the goodies to make it look like a Judge. Orange paint with yellow / black red decals and Judge badging, rear spoiler. Even a Judge emblem on the glove compartment door like a real one. Needless to say he backed out of the deal. The car itself had been in a fire and needed a lot of resto work. Maybe worth it if it was a real Judge but not a cloned Lemans.

I wouldn't say no to a Le Mans clone, as long as it was mechanically sound. If it looks like a goat, sounds like a goat, and makes my heart flutter - that's all I need.

Interesting thing is, early GTOs were really nothing more than an appearance package with a bigger engine on the Tempest for the most part. In fact, didn’t they still have the Tempest nameplate?

...^^^... I have never seen a car that "twisted".

Is the engine still in it ??? ... Engine bay looks empty.

...^^^... IIRC ... 1964 was Tempest with GTO option ... in reality.

I had a 1965 and it was pure GTO at that point ... had only GTO badges on it.

No Tempest name plate that I remember on the 1964 ... IIRC.

Some years were an option package on the respective body style, and some years were it's own model. Pretty sure at least '65-'70 (maybe later) were "GTOs", the rest were option/trim levels. Tomato/tomato They're all GTOs. My '74 didn't say Ventura anywhere on it. The G T O lettering by that time was nothing but stickers with a 'chrome' backing...

GTO was its own model from 1965 on. The first year 1964 was a trim package on a Tempest but still considered a GTO because the trim package included the 3 deuce 389 motor which none of the regular Tempests had. All years from 1965 on were their own model which was the GTO. Not just badging but larger cubed high horsepower motors, beefier transmissions / rear ends and lower gear for higher revving in 1/4 mile street runs.

I have no idea. I pulled that heart wrenching photo off the internet several years ago. Disturbing as it is.

Goes to show how lots of the high performance muscle cars ended up as, wrapped around a tree. One of the reasons they get more rare by the day.

Sure, but not at the price he was asking. And not at the price he was asking of a car that was not running and had been in a fire and needed serious work to bring it up to par.
