I want to pick up a new battery. My stocker developed corrosion a few months ago and after cleaning it, has since come back about a month ago. With the cold weather already here, I'd like to be on the safe side and replace it.

Comparing the DieHard Platinum (209.00 +/-) vs the Odyssey Dry Cell (255.00 +/-).
The Odyssey comes closer to my stock battery in terms of physical size. The DieHard is 1" taller, and my Positive battery cable is already stretching to reach that! I'd almost have to run a new positive cable for this one. The Odyssey is essentially the same in heigh and width. Length is a bit shorter though.
    Odyssey VS DieHard
    880 CCA ---- 740 CCA
    135 min ---- 100 min
    68/2hr ---- 59/2hr

So is the Odyssey really worth the extra $$ ? I'm reading that the DieHard Platinum is made by Odyssey, which is fine, but I'm comparing #s more than mfg here. Physical size and technical #s.

I dont understand what you are asking : if you are conserned about specs because you need them, there is no question. Is it the warrenty that would sell you ? you cant beat Sears most of the time. If you need to rewire or splice your pos cable the money is a about even (considering your time to screw around with it). All batteries will show some or a lot of corrosion if the top and posts are not maintained, at least minimally.

One of them fits and has better specs, one of them does not. What can you say ?

I'm not sure if this helps, but I run a Costco/Kirkland Signature battery in my truck. I don't have a winch or an amp or aux lighting. I just wanted a battery.

Anyway, my battery crapped out today, went back to Costco to buy another one, but I guess their car batteries have a 3 year 100% refund guarantee... but they also prorate the refund out to 100 months. My battery was 4 years old this month.. so I got something like 40% of my original purchase price back! I ended up getting a new Costco batter for $29. So financially, it worked out REALLY well for me. Granted, 4 years on a battery is not stellar performance, but for the money it worked out well.
