I've done probably 1/4 of it. Some of it is really tough. Some is super easy.
Check out the Perry County Tour on facebook, it's another local loop around southern and eastern ky

Considering coming down to KY in early-mid February with my family and trying part of Main 1. I have a TRD Sport with Wildpeaks, no other suspension or recovery gear at this point. Is this doable?

I rode parts of Main 1 around McKee Kentucky today on my dirt bike.
It is fairly dry here right now so most of the creek crossings were low however there are still some pretty nasty mud sections.
While its probably doable today it really depends on how much rain we have the week before you come.

I have just discovered this thread, as I had not been aware of the KAT until a couple days ago. I live in Laurel County, right on the western side of the Trail. My wife and I would love to do at least the parts within a one day drive of us, for now. I have tried and tried to get the GPX file to import into several different GPS apps on my iPhone, and none of them will accept the file. I downloaded the GPX file from the Annessky website mentioned above.

The GPS apps can see the file, but it is greyed out, and I can't select the file.

Anyone else have the same issue? The research I have done so far claims there are no hard copies of the Trail, as portions of it change often due to local conditions, and a GPS/GPX file is the only way to go.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
