Tacked my skid set together going to test fit it today then burn it in if everything looks good. This kit is really nice everything seems cut perfectly, directions could maybe use another pic or two but once you kind of set everything up its pretty straight forward.

What is the rear of the skid supposed to bolt to? I see two welded in bolts by Toyota but they don't match up with the rear standoffs. Only thing that matches up to the rear standoffs is the holes in the cross member. (Where i am pointing in the second pic)

Gotcha that makes complete sense. I was looking at it like, how in the hell do I get a nut inside that cross member and how do I keep it from spinning. Going all the way through the cross member makes way more sense. Thanks dude you saved me a lot of headache, I was beginning to freak out a bit. Ill have to grab some hardware at the store tomorrow but at least I can start finish welding it!

Yeah I grabbed the directions and it shows the size bolts but it didnt mention how they mounted to the frame, Once I saw your message I went back and read it and it says you need bolts but I figured there was something you bolted them to instead of just clamping it to the frame. I then started looking for where the gussets go, mine came with 4x gussets for like a 90deg gusset. nothing is referenced for them either.

I know this is a do it your self project but if you had a shop weld up the steel front bumper for you with no hoops, how long did it take them?
4 hours ? 6 hours? I may be able to do this with a friend that has a welder but if that falls through I might have to use a shop.

Technically I am a professional welder. I am actually a field mechanic but I am also my branches welder. So I weld as part of my profession. It took me about 7 hrs. But I also welded more than what was required. I welded every joint and ground to the point of having zero seams anywhere on the bumper. It is essentialy one piece.

Just don't buy a fluxcore welder from HF. Titanium or better there. No Chicago Electric, mine 'exploded' after one project.

Get the Titanium MIG 140. It's what we used to do two coastal bumpers, mine and my buddy did his for his wifes runner.

Looking at a bumper for my sequoia, like the price point. Need to talk to local fab shop to weigh out the price. Still very high on the the list, like 1st

Back in May I did. Got it in June. Of course when I ordered we were waiting on a group buy to fill up before it shipped.

holy crap would be awesome if there's welder rentals in the US

looks like Home Depot rents them but only a weak 140 amp and not a 210/220
