I was trying to remove the lower alternator bolt and it wouldn't budge. My alternator is fine but I need to remove the bolt to figure out the supercharger mounting bracket (I'm making a custom bracket). I don't want to snap off the bolt without a replacement bolt or alternator ready to go so wondering if anybody has run into this bolt being frozen in the bracket (which is the tensioner/bracket assembly). It's a 2013 with 68K miles so I'm surprised how locked up it is. I'm sure I can snap the bolt, but if it breaks in the wrong place the alternator will be stuck in the tensioner/bracket and I'll need a sawzall to cut it out. Since it's my daily driver, I would prefer to find a way to get it out with the least amount of carnage.

It's probably seized in the aluminum, if it's possible and safe to do so you can try heating the part it's stuck in with a propane torch just be careful not to put too much heat on the alternator and be mindful of anything else that could be damaged by heat or flame. Some heat, a good penetrating oil, and tapping on it with a hammer and hopefully you will get lucky, if you get it to start moving work it back and forth don't try to take it out in one go if it's still binding.

It's common, you need a quality socket to break it free.

What I do is remove the 12mm bolt and rock the alternator back and forth while loosening with a quality 14mm socket. (I'm talking snap-on, mac, matco chrome)
