Yes I lifted it and put on 285/70/17s, so I deserve it haha. But, is there big harm in driving between 2-3 rpms almost constantly you guys think

No problem at all. I have 5.29s and 33s and it screams on the hwy. around 3400 RPMs at 75mph and it never skips a beat. Drinks a lot of gas but that’s the cost we pay for bigger tires

Nice, yeah mine feels like a tundra when it comes to the gas because of the 33s. But I'm with you I feel like I'm constantly in that range on the highway

The 4 cylinder really likes to rev so I don’t see any harm in it, but yeah I’m there with the gas too. I get around 13 on the hwy and 14 around town, but my truck is supercharged too. When it was still naturally aspirated I could see 15-16mpg with the same gears and tires. The hit in mileage is worth it though

Heck yeah I was looking into superchargers And new headers and stops gain back some power after the 33s, what'd you go with for supercharger and how bad was the install?

I am running the URD supercharger. The install was not too bad, but i had to modify some stuff and the fitment was still a little off on a couple of things, so that complicated the install a little.

It’s not bad overall though and totally do-able for a backyard mechanic. I did a little here and a little there, starting with the fuel pump. That is probably the hardest part of the install. You might have to modify or make a couple of little aluminum brackets for things like the intercooler, horns, or other things that you’ve modified that get in the way. I had a fuse block on the driver side where the oil reservoir wanted to occupy, so I had to modify my panel to make room for that. If your truck is mostly stock, things will go much smoother.

One thing that should be noted is that you’ll likely need to cut the wiring harness to install the piggyback ECU (if URD is still using the MAPECU3). I bought a jumper harness so I could cut that and make connections there and just plug everything in, but it was a big added cost, so just something to be aware of.

I will say after getting things dialed in, I am very impressed with the kit overall. It really changes the way the truck drives and it helps a lot more than you’d think down low. Drivability was much improved throughout the rev range and it pulls hard to redline.

I think the 3rd gen URD sc for the 2.7 is dialed back a little bit from the 2nd gen numbers but i am sure you’ll be very happy with it.

I've had two 4 bangers with a total of over 400,000 miles and all I ever did was run the engine at 2500-3500 rpm. Both engines at 200,000 never burned a drop of oil nor did they have any issues. IMO, one of the best engines ever made for durability.

Running 285s with 5.29 gears, and I typically always shift right at 3k unless I’m going up a long steep hill, then I’ll shift at about 3300-3500. No problems in that rpm range with my little 4cyl.

I was just about to look into this, because I had concerns whether or not running my engine at 80mph/3000rpm constantly on the highway was going to affect the longevity of the engine. Glad I found some people chiming in.

I have an 05 tundra with the 4.0 and the RA60 6MT. That truck is geared to run 2600rpm at 65mph, that truck has 330k miles on it.

My 4cyl sucks ass below 2500rpms. I try not to be below that for anything important.
