HELP!! My Interior electronics Went HAY WIRE!!

I FIXED IT!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! READ THE RED...


I have a 2007 Tacoma Access Cab. So yesterday i was in a hurry to get to a wedding when i realized that nothing was working all of a sudden.. My gas guage is floating freely up and down when it feels like it, my speedo don't work, my check engine light came on, my air bag light is on, my turn signals don't work, my reverse beep don't work, my air is stuck on heat and defrost (the last settings i had it on...), and even though my turn signals don't work inside or out my hazzard button does... What is wrong with it!?!?! Possible fuse? Please any help would be great! Thank you! btw... I searched similar words and found nothing of the same story...

Ok... So i spent $180 on my truck today! Why you ask? Well i realized that my truck needed a goo electrical overhaul and people were telling me that they don't think its a speed sensor or my ECM.. They said i have a loose ground.. MAKE SENSE.. So i check all my grounds and powers for every not factory i have installed... Well after sprucing up my truck and buying a brand new Yellow Top battery i realized it still didn't work. So i checked all my fuses in the engine bay.. NOTHING! So then i checked the ones that made sense under my steering wheel.. NOTHING! So i realized i check 3/4 of the one inside might as well check them all them BAM labeled "IG1 10" blown to shit! I just so happen to have one of those mini fuzes included under the hood as an extra.. Popped it in!! CHA CHING! BLINKERS, CHECK! REVERSE LIGHTS, CHECK!, AIR BAGS, CHECK!! ETC.. It was that simple this whole time! So side note double check before you waste your money at a dealer! The dealer told me it was my ECM by me describing it. Hope this helps someone down the road! Eh, no. I don't think it's a fuse, it sounds like you're having an ECU problem. All of those things are controlled logically.

 

I wasn't doing anything out of the norm... I went to the movies and then back woke up the next morning and bam... Nothing works... So what do i do? I mean i have a system and stuff but i've had that over 2 years! So i don't know what the deal is!

 

Like I was saying, all of those components don't control anything directly, they send signals back to the computer and then the computer decides what to do, or vise-versa, it's possible your gauge cluster is not communicating, like suppose if you have a frayed or damaged wire or if the cluster itself has gone bad. I'd take it to the dealer and see what they have to say about it.

 

Sounds to me like a bad/loose ground somewhere. Ground loops cause major, and completely random, problems in digital systems.

Look for every ground you can find, wiggle it and tighten it. Start with the battery ground and the ground wires around the battery, other grounds in the engine compartment and grounds under the dash.

 

Alrighty.. I appreciate all advice and will be checking into it tomorrow during the day and let you know what the deal is... I hope it is not the ecu! AHHHHH!!! Anyways... I'll let ya'll know..

 

A blown 7.5A ECU-B fuse (engine bay) might explain most, if not all, those symptoms.

 

I don't know a fuse is either in tact or is blown...no in between. I mean if it was blown wouldn't it just not work? Really sounds like it could be a grounding issue or the ECM is malfunctioning. Curious to find out what it is.

 

ok.. So an up date.. I might try doin gthe cheaper fixes first.. AKA(Battery, Fuse... ETC) but i ran a code the other day and it cam back with (I think) PB 5300 (or something like that) aka what it is know as Speedometer sensor and if it is wired like i think when one goes bad all others start to flag and make it look worse.. So i'll do the cheap ones first then onto the $140 sensor!!

I've got a similar problem..but with the tailights and climate control/radio lights. I indiacate left and everything starts flashing. All interior lights are off, but then I hit the brake and they're on again.

Even stranger..sometimes the problem fixes itself, other times it goes back to bad.

Checked my grounds and fuses and everything is good. Going to the shop Wed so I WILL provide an update.

 

UP UP AND AWAY!! I FIXED IT!! READ FIRST POST!! EDIT!

 

Thinking about it.. It could very well be a fuse that is barily making contact sometimes and that is why it is flickering and fixing it self on and off!

 

Mine was a faulty trailer wiring harness. Water got in and arc the pins.
Time for a new one....
