It looks that way with the tapes I’ve tried thus far. You need something really low clearance, so the burliest double stick tapes like the command strips wouldn’t work. I almost think it’s more related to the little post not being thick enough to have a tight fit, but who knows.

Damn, yeah idk. That is more than I would be comfortable with. Yeah, that overbite just stares back at you in that spot.

I have to justify the $9 of Bunny Lebowski green toenail polish. Expect to see the foot showing up in my shots until it wears off.

What about a dab of hot glue on that post? It should still be removable if needed.

Got mine installed this afternoon. Similar issues others have discussed including the hole/thread alignment problem. Not sure if I ended up with two bottom covers or just a faulty top. It goes in correctly but just won’t stay put. Like @Malvolio said, double sided tape won’t hold it up without sticking out. Biggest concern is no matter how I tried, I can’t get the pillar to be flush with the tweeter cover. Took that off and made sure all the clips were right but it just won’t go in. If I forced it, aside from probably breaking something, the bolt holes definitely wouldn’t line up. Any suggestions?

If that top cover has no tape underneath, it is the worst that I have seen and would say that it is defective somehow.

For the bottom of the trim, I don't think you have the tabs in the slots? This is my method:

Good idea. I was thinking shoe goo might work too and be more resistant to softening up when I’m in the desert and it’s super hot in the cab. I might do one of those two approaches in concert with the glue tape Tonered suggested. I don’t care if it’s a bit messy in there if it works — I probably won’t take the handle off until I sell the truck in...2037.

    :hattip:

I might stay away from ShoeGoo as I don't think that cover material is going to be happy with solvents? Hot glue might just be the right solution. A dab on that pin could harden into a nice, grippy plug on either the handle or pin if it doesn't exactly bond. That would at least allow it to be removable. ShoeGoo is gonna be perma.

The tape is just VHB adhesive. So, that will stand up to temps.

Hmmmm. I’ll try hot glue first then. And your fancy tape. I love shoe goo though. Keeps my mountaineering boots solid for a few more years once I thrash the rand.

And I can still peel it off when I’m done with it.

That's what I was thinking. Plasti dip on the post or something. Something to increase it's diameter but still remain grippy. Rtv?

Yeah, I have some from my roof rack install. I’ll try that after the hot glue. Smart to be less perma at first even though it goes against my nature.

ShoeGoo is good stuff. Works great to repair lexan R/C bodies. I was pretty surprised with that application.

I have found that ShoeGoo will sometimes peel or stick. It is hard to say with a bunch of factors. The main factor here is the shitty feeling material of the cover. Since we're on limited quantities, I wouldn't want it to melt with the solvent.

    Good idea on the RTV.

For the same solvent reason, I'd stay away from derp.

Yeah, or slap a sticker on it and call it a day. “Experimental” since the covers are a KTCO
    4x4 beta test.

If you can live with a sticker there, I'd say go for it. My visor stickers had to die. No bueno here.

PnP Beta / Experimental / For Science and the Community / Rescue all sound right and applicable.

How about a little bit of "Dumb-Dumb"..... at least that's what we called it 50 years ago. I think Lowe's sell something similar known as "rope caulk".
Comes in black and gray and it stays tacky, so it wouldn't prevent future removal. Roll it into a little ball and use it like glue to stick that cover down.

EDIT: I see that foot again.

    Plumbers putty?

That stuff is pretty cool. They had two types also. One was good for PVC materials.
