I would sell my RC for 50,000 It's not worth that much and it does not have that much money put in to it.

Depending on mileage your truck could fetch you $25,000. I traded a GX460 for my 2013 Taco.

Clean 2nd gens are worth their weight in gold, apparently.

Took me 6 months to buy my 2013 - most trucks I found sold within 3-5 days of being listed and I couldn't move fast enough.

You won't have a problem selling yours unless you're straight up unreasonable with the price.

Came across this ad today. Not mine, I'm not shopping either but looks to be clean with super low miles. Less than it cost new but not by much. Courtesy of the book of faces.

I'd be all over that if the frame's in good shape (even so, it's new enough to qualify for a frame anyway). I paid $22k for my 2013 w/76k in October, and that was a good price then for condition and miles.

Paid $25k for my '13 last October with 80k miles and excellent shape. I found it 2 hours away and drove to pick it up. They sell as fast as they get put on the lot around here.

I sold my 2013 back in fall 2019 before all the covid bullshit and replaced with a GX470.

You’d need to research your local used market though. Some regions the 470s have climbed to ridiculous prices as opposed to pre-covid. West coast prices are ridiculous for 10 yr old Toyota’s. You might not be gaining much in some areas by doing the swap. Good thing is sale prices for 2nd gens has gone up a bit too so it kinda evens out.

2012 - 2015 are still selling for high regardless of miles in Oregon. Higher than 2005 - 2011. My brother has a 12' with less than 40k miles and I told him if he sells he can get close to 29k probably.

I would definitely look into selling privately first as a kind suggestion. I looked into the KBB value on my 06 SR5, access as a trade in, and it was valued at only around 7K with 157k miles on it. I then looked at dealerships selling Tacomas very similar to mine and found they were selling them for over twice what my trade in value was. Freakn rip off! Talk about being robbed, or should I say "legally" robbed of what your truck is actually worth.

I was also seriously looking into the GX470 as an option, but after researching the GX's issues: dash board develops spider cracks (recall), horrible gas mileage, maintenance costs being a Lexus, I eventually decided to look towards purchasing a 4runner. The deal breaker for me against the GX was definitely the gas mileage though (taking long road trips). It just seems as if the 4runner will be cheaper to own/maintain overall.

Q the smart-ass peanut gallery comments!
