My Mrs is still working as HR for the local fire district. In late Sept / early Oct the district fire chief decided to get the whole group (about 270 persons) vaccinated for the common Flu virus. The dept organized bulk purchase of the serum - and she went looking for a way to get it applied in an immediate organized manner. It was decided for scheduling reasons, not to use the dept's EMT's (I questioned this myself). Anyway the quoted cost of injection (from a local clinic with qualified personnel) was $15 per person - the serum was only stored in common refrigeration. They have gotten mixed signals from legal people about whether they could make acceptance of the vaccine a condition of employment. Anyway - without a special deep freeze $15 each.

I get a monthly injection at the clinic where I see my physician, they charge (on paper) $10 - medicare only authorizes $6 and pays $4.80.

    Good morning all,

Been off this for a while, crazy holiday season - we lost our Phoenix (13 yr old lab) the week before Christmas, The 7 mnth old Golden (Agnes) went into heat (too early for a Golden) and subsequently caused a bladder infection. The positive is our 3.6 yrd old Golden (Boris) is growing up now that his brother from another mother is no longer here to be the pack leader.

I did go elk hunting in late November and what a trip - saw and chased elk for 8 days in deep snow (no meat this year). Set camp up in warm weather with no snow on the ground, two days later on opening day for third rifle started with sleet, wind with sleet turning to snow - a foot. We had to pack-out due to a week of storms rolling in with snow projected for each day plus the mud under the fresh snow was an issue - we were 2.5 miles off the FSR and not sure if the FSR is maintained (Nat Gas wells - storage wells - interesting story on how the gas company buys nat gas when the market is low and stores it in the ground until needed - several well complexes in this area). The Taco performed great with camp gear and using chains. We ended up moving camp and working different areas by driving in each morning at 0330 and settling down. The high winds and snow were moving the herds down out of the ridges - finally. we were hunting between 9500 and 1100 feet.

Here we are after driving out and stopped at one of the rigs to go back and chase two cows and a bull that walked right in front of us as we were crawling up and out. Look at the difference one day makes - camp set up then escaping while we could get out.IMG_20201105_145939567.jpg IMG_20201109_094127132.jpg

Be safe out there - I am on the list for the next round of vaccines - will be 67 in two months.

All I can say is sorry about losing your pup Phoenix. And glad you made it out of the bad weather when you did Mike. There is always next season to get some meat. Take care.

Thanks Ken, Phoenix was a great companion.

We made it out from that camp site just in time but we did stay up in the high country for the whol time just closer to a real FSR to assure getting out. They call it hunting for a reason and we do not use quads, we stay in the nat forest and wilderness areas where quads are not allowed off the FSR roads where we have to hike and work at it but less hunting compression. BLM hunters are a little crazy out here.

    Evening folks.....
Glad to say, I reached a point where shuffling things around and tossing stuff as I go is here! Emptied three cabinets, one large tote, and three small totes, made a good contribution to Herby Curby, and moved some of the things to their new home. Duplicates were discovered and consolidated, useless cans and bottle of the past are gone! So, here's the doors open and revealed!

I'm really quite happy about this. More totes will get emptied with stuff to sell on Ebay, and then the counter space will clear. It's all "organized", but can be sorted in a easy manner now. Happy Friday everyone!

I am so sorry about your loss, Mike. Always the worst part of loving these amazing pups who bring so much joy to our lives.

Good morning to everyone. Rain overnight here but starting to mix with some snow as the temps drop. Hoping we bypass the freezing rain part. Looks like a quiet weekend here. Stay safe out there!!

Good morning, all! We got about an inch of now yesterday as the rain changed over as the cold front went through but the air temps at the ground stayed above freezing so it mostly melted. Still a bit left from the last snow. Our temps have been warmer than usual - staying in the 30s night and day - supposed to get colder this week, though with overnight temps in the teens and daytime in the 20s. Not bad...but I'm ready to spend time at the pool!

No big plans for today - will watch the football games and relax.

    Stay warm and safe!!!

    Good morning everyone.

Come on down Mark, pool is right outside our door and temperature is a lot warmer than up home. Only in the low 60's today but I'll take it. Enjoy the football games.
