I'm looking to put new wheels/tires on a 2014 Tacoma Limited, Double Cab, Long Bed. I have 265/60R18 tires right now. I traded the OEM wheels for some that had less chrome. I'm not sure what these came off of, maybe a 4Runner (pics attached). I assume they're 18x7. I'm looking to go to a 17" wheel because I want more tire sidewall, and I wasn't planning to lift it, at least not yet. I know from the "Largest tire sizes..." post here on TW that the max tires I can do with a 17" wheel is 265/70R17. So I was picking some wheels out on TireRack that were 17x9 and chatted with an agent who recommended 8.5" max and said I'll need at least +5mm offset or I'll need a lift. I understand the concept of offset but I was thinking a negative offset would give me more backspace. From the Tire Size Calculator, 265/70R17 tires would be just over 1" greater diameter than my current tires, which have plenty of space to the fender.
