My friend had the fuel pump recall on his Corolla and when he left the dealer after the fix, his check engine light turned on. He had to go back and the dealer had to check everything and the gas cap was to blame according to the dealer.

Is it a P2420 code? I have a 2018 also that was getting that CEL code frequently and had the dealership look into it while they were doing the fuel pump recall. They replaced the evap canister and something else and it was still coming back with a fault. Turned out there was an issue with the wiring harness. They had the truck for 4 or 5 days to get it all figured out and fixed, but the code hasn't come back in the last couple thousand miles. The fix was to replace the harness.

The first code was for a small evap leak P code when I scanned for this last one it was a code i've never seen 7E8 Engine and 7E9 A/T so I took it to the dealer this morning and all they told me was the tank would have to come down again.

My scanner is a generic basic bitch model.

I have no idea what those codes even mean since they're not P codes. I've tried Google and it says something about air intake, fuel and knock sensor. I checked under the hood before going to the dealer for anything out of the ordinary and couldn't find anything. I did check the gas gap and it was tight.

I hope the dealer is not barking up the wrong tree and it's something else.

Three years with only 3,400 miles says you at the least don’t like it a lot.

This is why I’m in no hurry to get my fuel pump replaced, the one I have now works fine.

The Evap system does not look that complicated. I bet if they drop the tank, this time all the way out not like when they R&R the pump, they could pressure check the tank just sitting on the stand, the hoses, and all the fittings. when they drop for the SB they could very well have stressed a fitting and cracked it, definitely possible. I think I would give them another chance before pulling your guns. This is when the dealer should put a senior tech on it even though they wont be making squat this is the service centers secret weapon, let em try one more time just sayin.

Had a similar issue when getting my fuel pump recall done. CEL came on after a day or so. They had to drop the tank again and it was some issue with the hoses. PITA, had to leave it with them for like 5 hours, but only one return trip.

Don't know what state you are in, but I don't know any that would lemon law a failed repair job. A recall repair might be a stretch, but they are usually limited to manufacturer defects not poor tech work.

In any case I have never seen being a dick as a way to get results. Your results may vary.

I hope they can fix it, but I see no reason in acting stupid.

I'd get Toyota Corporate on the phone and find out if they have a dealership that can do recall work correctly. Provide your service order documents to them and let them find a resolution.

I had an issue with evap lines on another vehicle, turned out they had been chewed by a rodent. Could be that the problems are not related.

Hog tie and whip lash me ... but I got to ask, “who is Karen”?

Know what the lemon law is - but never heard the Karen reference before.

Unlikely this truck has been garaged since i've owned it and I have traps out since day one of living here five years. I've never caught a mouse in that time. I don't store food or trash and the garage is also rocked. I don't think it's a very nice place to winter over for a rodent as it's unheated and it's currently freezing outside.

I suspect that something got broke that maybe they can't see. I hope they can smoke check it. If I wasn't in money tight ass mode right now i'd just trade it for a 2021. It's currently paid for.

Same here, I've never had an issue so I will wait until they've done a million of them and perhaps figured it out.

I just bought a 2020 TRD Sport last October and was told that the problem was solved. My VIN is not included in the recall so fingers crossed. Are there any warning signs I should be aware of?
