I have to agree on the trailer/water/bearing connection. I had an 83 Teenee trailer for my boat (just sold in May), and I only replaced the bearings as a precaution in over 10 years and tons of miles that I owned it. I live about 140 miles form my favorite lake (Erie), and in the spring/summer/fall I would do up and back same day trips as often as 1 a week to 3 times a week. Most of my trips home were 45 to 140 miles, depending on which lake I went to. The bearings looked good when I changed them, so I vacuum packed them in grease and had them as spares in the trailer box. The PO and original owner told me he changed them in about 1998.

    Looking good!

We used to cook 5,000 lbs of Boston butts twice a year for a fundraiser in the volunteer FD I was in. I made 15 of those cookers from old oil drums for them

    Yep.

Next step is to get it on the proper height legs.

I'll build the internal rack frame after that.

I have to follow the owners direction. I know fuck all about pig cookers.

Do they normally have 3 racks?

One, stainless ex. Steel for the butterflied hog, another to catch the drippings and another for the wood or charcoal? I think the hog rack is the top layer. I don't know how the next 2 get placed.

    1 pig rack
1 drip pan / heat shield
    Charcoal pan
Now you could make provisions for a extra rack and use when needed incase they want to cook other stuff.

Most likely I'll have an extra piece of the stainless. I might as well make something for the roaster with it.

Things not even done yet and it's got a name.

They started out calling it Hogzilla, but I pumped the brakes on that since that name used way too much.

    It being called the A-10.

    Short for the A-10 Warthog...roaster.

I like it and don't know if I've ever seen it used before.

Made a bit of progress on the A-10.

Buddy's son wanted to learn to weld, so I gave him 10 minutes of instructions then turned him loose.PXL_20210116_162030255.jpg PXL_20210116_162030255.jpg PXL_20210116_162606579.jpg

    @Bigdaddy4760

Yo, Maner, what model of Vulcan welder do you run?
Kyle, the high schooler in the above pics wants a Vulcan, but all I could remember was to stay away from the multi process units.

    No hurry on answering.

It's used as an anchor. Chain grabs the rocky river bottom, but does not seat. It allows the boat to slowly move down stream.

I guess you could call it a drag anchor.

It's pretty common around here to use chain as an anchor.
