Should I lift my truck and put bigger wheels on it for more clearance while off-roading ?

I love this site and Ive been reading threads for years, so first I want to give a big THANK YOU to all the great people out there in this community. You've been inspiring and I'm finally ready to get this rig ready for some dirt road camping and to use as a base for hiking and backpacking into more remote areas. I haven't really done much to my Tacoma since I bought it in 2013. Besides regular maintenance and some new heavy duty floor mats I haven't done anything to it since I put a new Leer shell on it with the heavy duty reinforced camper roof soon after purchase. It's a fully loaded 2013 Tacoma 4x4 TRD off road access cab with 80,000 miles on it and its in great condition in and out. I see no reason to upgrade as I don't want to pull a big trailer or really a trailer at all. I'm looking to install a roof top tent and install a water system I saw earlier on the TW threads. Any Advice would be great, thinking about maybe adding a leaf spring or two to compensate for water weight? Maybe help handling? I'd appreciate any suggestions on lifts, upgrading wheels, bed kits with sliders ect.. OK! Thanks again everyone, Check out my page on instagram @ChampionTattoos

Welcome to TW! Just out of curiosity, how big of water tanks are you talking about? I'm in the boat of small lift (≤2"). It keeps your center of gravity low and more importantly, keeps CVs and steering geometry halfway decent. Changing out leaf packs to more of an expedition type would help also. A good one to talk to about this is Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road. They're a good company to work with and Marie knows her stuff.

Cool I will look up Marie, gracias for the tip! What state are you in? Are your national parks or BLM land shut down?

Skip the AAL and go straight to new leaf pack. Also do a suspension lift vs body lift especially since youll be carrying weight.
