    Hi Everyone,

Looking to join the club. I ran across a 2017 TRD sport for $21,000. The car is sold by a Toyota dealership, it is fully loaded with sun roof, JBL speakers, heated seats, wireless charging and so on. Its in great condition inside and out. Here is the kicker it has 180k miles. The dealers story is that the guy bought it from them and then he drove the miles and traded it in for another one. The previous owner is some sort of contractor that drives around the south. The dealer also provided we with service records, and everything they did to it before posting it for sale. The records don't account for all the oil changes but I guess that could have been done anywhere. I would have to buy this car cash because the best interest rate on that many miles is around 9%. What do you guys think, too much or about right? Or what do you think its worth paying in cash?

    I have a 2017 with 90,000 miles.
20F5AD15-F46B-4400-81F0-0B9FC882C4E9.jpg I would buy new if you are gonna shell out that much for a truck closing in 200k miles.
That’s why I bought a new one in February 2017. Used prices were crazy. It’s good for trade in value. Every 4x4 tacoma had 70,000-100,000 miles for $29k. I went and bought new.

Yeah, that is a boat load of miles. I am curious as to what they gave that cat for the as a trade-in. I am thinking way less, perhaps that 21,000 as an inverted number ... maybe 12,000.

I’d pass on that many miles. I’d also pass on that interest rate.

Hard pass. Too many miles for $21,000 and a junk interest rate.

And only a 4 cylinder to boot. Hard pass. More than $7500 and I'd run away.

Here on the Big Island of Hawaii ..Tacoma’s and 4-Runner’s are so popular..... Use Toyota’s prices is ridiculously high...and everyone know that. .here is less supply and huge demand...see Big Island of Hawaii Craigslist’s..car & trucks or Craigslist HawaiiTacomas trucks..

Toyota at 200,000 miles today is consider...well mid way...?
If NOT a 4x4? ..do not buy it...if want to join the club...mostly 4- wheelers here..not four tires on a truck..
    if it’s a four cylinder? Um..you may want a V-6...

with $20,000 + makes a good down payment for new one...! Better with less cash ..use the savings for aftermarket builds...?
    Aloha,

New Tacos are high priced nowadays.
Used Tacos are high priced nowadays.

You can search around for a good price on a used, harder to find but they are out there. I'd pass on the 2017 with 180k miles.

You’d be better off finding a different truck with lower miles and a carfax that shows when the truck was serviced. Run away from this one.

Edit: also just noticed that the truck you’re looking at is 2wd.

Many times the first truck we see ...gets you excited and jump at it... only later to find ..bad choice..and had features not wanted or the things in it you wanted missing..

I suggest if you have a real friend go with you...often they see what you never notice...and knows what you really wanted...

Getting on this website..may have save you $$$ and will help you make a better buying decision...!
    Aloha,

I am in Canada so prices are different but I got my 2019 SR5 for $34k CDN (about $25k USD at the time) with 20k km (about 12k mi) on it back in June. No way I would pay $21k for that truck.

Thanks everyone. I been looking for awhile and was looking at something more basic but I probably got over excited for something that was better because it was flashy compared to some of the other trucks I was looking at. Thanks for the help.
