I got tired of the USB adapter plugged into the dash power outlet getting knocked lose so I ordered a dual USB replacement for the power outlet. I tried to install it today as the sun was warm. Pulled the radio and can’t get my hand sufficiently in far enough to feel what I need to do to pull the old one out.

has anyone done this? Any hints? There is a large mass of wires in the way on that side, I’ve replaced switches on the other end without a problem. I’d rather not cut those wires free if possible.

    thanks

For further reference we don't use the word Help in a thread title unless it is an emergency . Good luck with the truck .

Great video, didn’t know the climate controls came out so easy - I’ve had the video head out 3-4 times.

QUESTION - how does the power socket get removed? Unplugged is no problem but I want it removed so I can replace it.

    thanks for the help.

I agree with "Pink Taco's ;)" suggestion. Remove the Climate control panels to reach in and install the USB port locking nut ...
To remove the lower switch panel requires to remove almost the entire front dash board + the center console, way too much work..

To remove the 12V, you use a small flathead screw driver to push out 2 locking tab, then pull out the metal body.
Then pry out the main plastic body with the cover.
    Here is a link:
    12V Socket Removal
For some reason it was really tight to pull out the metal piece, may need a needle nose plier.

I also de-pined the original connector and re-use the metal sockets (Purple wire was +12V if remember correctly), put heat shrink over it. I did need to use the step drill to enlarge the opening a bit to 1-1/8".
