    I was there from 1986-1989.
Out one Sunday and it was snowing and I lost control on some ice. 33 years ago today.1967 mustang

Multiple rollovers for sure. Glad you survived that!

No roll over. Slid sideways and hit an oncoming car. I was sideways in his lane and my passenger side smashed his front bumper.

I was a fireman at George, ‘72 to ‘74. By far most of the accidents we responded to we on Airbase Road, 395, or the short cut from 395 to Airbase. The short cut had a nasty curve and a Joshua tree perfectly placed to stop drunks from driving into the desert.

All of the surrounding communities had volunteer FD’s back then so our mutual aid agreements kept us busy.

Other than drinking the other two big causes were falling asleep and black ice. To many GI’s were from places where black ice was unknown.

Should have take Mojave Dr that day. The hill by the cement plant casts a shadow. Just right for ice.

There were no shadows. It was pouring the snow. At noon. I was coming back from Apple Valley anyway.

Before I retired I had NASA Goldstone as a customer. I found it amazing that it was easier to get onto Ft. Irwin than the NASA site.

In fact, Iwin was easier than another customer, Camp Pendleton.

I went out to Goldstone a couple times to see if they ever gave tours to the public, but got nothing. Couldn't find anyone to ask once I got out there.

BP (Before Pandemic) they did have them. I don’t remember the scheduling. They have a website.
