Regarding aftermarket headlights... Okay, so I’m aware of the search feature and have not yet found a direct answer to my specific question.
in general I understand that the consensus is that retro mod on oem is going to give you the best results. However, aside from concerns of moisture, how would aftermarket headlights brightness from, say, Tacomabeast or Spyder compare to standard original non projector oem?

I understand that they will not be as bright as a high quality retro mod, but I don’t want the super-bright-nuclear bomb-lighting. As long as lighting is on par with oem output - currently just standard halogen - can I at least expect the same comparable output from spyder, etc?

again, I don’t care to enter into competitive headlight brightness competitions, just to maintain output of oem.

    thanks.

edit: to better clarify, I want to upgrade the headlights simply for the aesthetic look. Additionally, the lense is fogged up, and so wanting to replace that component more than anything, and this is also why I’m not interested in modding for more intense light. Note: yes, I have performed a full wet sand process on the outside clear lenses, then sealing with a clear coat with uv protectant. This lasted about 2 year, until becoming cloudy again.

so, yes, I want new headlights, not to mod.

For 2nd gen upgrades, go for a relay harness and a high quality bulb, if you're not going for a D2S retro like an rx350.

All of the aftermarket lamps are poor performers in comparison.

The optics in the lights you mentioned are just awful. Both are a significant downgrade from OEM from a performance standpoint.
