Finally able to take leave and install my new plates.

 

As far as the drivers side grab, aren't both hands suppose to be on the steering wheel?

 

i believe the main intent of the grab bar is to assist you getting into the truck or even getting out of the truck...

So the original Powertray was nice - but - it wasn't quite the best fit for my 2020 Tacoma. It needed some... enhancements.


First thing - getting those damned BOLTS in was a nightmare. Big hands, small area. NOT a good idea. So, I sheered off the right side of the Powertray and created a new bracket for the side, then it was *easy* to bolt it in and lock it down.

Now - all I needed to do was put in that left side aluminum riser.

But - that was kind of a bitch too. So, I loosened the bolt a bit - then see the slot at the bottom - well, I drilled that out and made it into a fork and stuck it against the frame and the clamp and then locked it down. I took the piece of the powertray I ground off and turned that into a small bracket to extend to hit the tray at the right angle and make it level - then locked in the bolt.


Here's a closeup of the aluminum angle bracket I created. Not very pretty - but its same aluminum used in the Powertray.
The two small holes in the ends are for zip ties, anmd there is a two 8mm bolt holes which I drop in a plastic plug and lock it in.


Here is the Powertray RTMR fully populated and tray in place and locked down. Solid and doesn't move. Test drive over bumps and it didn't break loose.


Here's a better shot now that the battery cables are in. As you can see, there is a cutout for the brake fluid. A wing nut on the left side allows for easy removal - and then just clip the side nylon zip ties and it comes on out (after you remove the battery cables).

I'm making a small plastic bar that mounts to the right of the RTMR which the cables will attach too so they look more organized. For now, they have a rubber band around them.

 

@Cappy sorry for late reply. Been on the road past day. I used the supply switch that goes in the kit. I didn't have any issues installing. If you are having an issue, I would suggest reaching out to @mattgecko. If switch isn't working, he might have some suggestions.

Did you write this up? I like the panel, did you buy it or make it? I have air bags and onboard air and need to put together something like this.

So I FINALLY was able to get my truck OV Tuned/Flashed by @PapaRee. Met him Natchez, Mississippi. It took about 30 minutes top. He also did update with TSB for the Tacoma's transmission. Either way, truck is a lot better on take off, shifts a lot more smoothly, and the best part: increased MPG.

As far as MPG goes my truck was bouncing around 12.5 to 13.5 (heavy tires). But even cruising between 65-70 all way home yesterday, I was getting 15.5 on average. I know it's not a "huge improvement," but I'll take it. Plus it's a sportier performance.

He's a super nice guy. Very easy to work with, and very knowledgeable in doing this. And very enthusiastic about what he does.

dropped the old girl (2019 trd sport sequoia) for that new new. while i will miss the spacious interior of the land yacht, thats basically it. i wont miss putting gas every couple days, or how horribly antiquated the platform has become. for a 2019 the most cutting edge thing the sequoia recieved was a front end refresh lol. hopefully next year toyota gives the tundra and the sequoia some love, cause i gotta be honest, the rav4 has some incredible technology. with that being said, i do think of this rav as a temporary whip in my lineup. the endgame was always to get back into a 4runner, i just didnt want to get another 5th gen, as i been there and done that. i will say, the t4r limited nighshade (my choice) looks absolutely exquisite; though not exquisite enough to overlook that the platform is sorely lacking (something like the tundra/sequoia.) i do still got the taco, that aint going anywhere lol.

Look up Rocky Mounts. Better racks than Walmart. Not sure how much your bike costs, but I would never trust such an investment to Walmart anything. Lol

Take a look at 1Up racks, it is the best rack I have ever seen and is my choice to replace my existing Saris.
