Thanks, i haven’t turned my ac on since I got the truck a few weeks back. I’m guessing this is still what it is. I’ll leave it alone and crank the tunes!

Listened to the first video. That's exactly the sound my 2 month old 2020 makes. Thanks for the insight and links.

Lol..... The last time I had a brand new Truck was in 1992 when I bought my Toyota Extra Cab 4X4 V6 5spd. 14 years later, a 3 year old 2003 Pathfinder. Things have certainly changed since then.

However, the 1992 made a metallic ping noise in the drive line when you took off from 1st gear. They replaced some bolts and flanges in the drive train If I recall correctly. Never did it again.

Definitely. Mine did it when I first got the truck as well and still does at times. Thought it was the transmission making the noise until I searched all over this forum and came across those threads.

Finger around the top of a wine glass is the perfect way to describe it!

My 2019 makes the exact same noise. Always on acceleration.

I've had 3 2nd gen tacomas, all of them made a whistling noise at highway speed.
It was caused by air getting between the rubber moulding and hood. (Where the front hood rests on the moulding/rubber weather strip, whatever you want to call it.) I put a small bead of rtv sealant on top of the moulding on all three tacos. Solved the problem.
Not sure if you're experiencing the same issue.

Great, now I want to add a "Darth Vader" breathing sound to my truck. Where do you buy those?

Dang, so that's all I need to do to get rid of the whistle?

Yeah, actually on one of my tacos I put a couple long skinny strips of duct tape along the top edge of that strip.

So I replaced my grille with another OEM one, plus I painted the lower grille with satin black Krylon Fusion paint, and now the whistle seems to be gone at highway speeds. I don't know if the top of the grille where it meets the hood is a little tighter fit, or if it was in fact coming from the lower grille, but I'm glad it's gone now.

Mines definitely A/C related. I’ve only been running the defrost and get the short wine glass rub sound ...never comes on when it’s off. Tried the A/C and get the same result. Starting to bother me less and bending my mind not to let it bother me...seems to be working for now lol. I’ll ask dealer if it’s still bugging me when I take it in for first service at 8000km

My 2020 did this. My 2021 does it. Other new Tacomas I've test driven over the past year have done it. No idea what it is and never tried to chase it down.

I'm experiencing this with my 2021 4 Runner- just got it a week ago and it happens with A/C off or on while driving- no certain speeds- not consistent- goes and comes but its driving me insane. My 2017 I never had issues with.

So, I experienced some whistling after installing my meso sidemarkers and ended up taking the mirror caps off and reseating them, my whistle went away. Not sure if applicable to your situation but worth a try.

I have the same exact problem for a couple months now. Its annoying as heck. Try turning your AC on and off and see if it follows that. I've finally figured it out and has to do with my AC. Have yet to take it to the dealer.
