Plus BSM sensor mounts ($249). Everything adds up to $2,105 (bumper, powdercoat, mounts, tax, shipping).

Not gonna lie, I am extremely interested in this rear bumper. Having the ability to keep the BSMs is an absolute gamechanger! In fact, I would buy this bumper right now if it weren't for a few things. Allow me to explain:

    Hitch location

It looks like I may have some major conflicts with the hitch location. I have a RIGd UltraSwing (hitch mounted tire carrier) and a 1up bike rack. They can be used individually or mounted together. Below are some photos for reference:
    1.jpg
    Just the UltraSwing
    2.jpg
    Just the 1up
    3.jpg
    Both UltraSwing and 1up

@Apogee Offroad, I was hoping you guys could provide some insight on the compatibility of these items with your rear bumper's hitch location. I really want your bumper, but if I lost the ability to use these products, it would probably be a deal breaker for me. If there was an option to keep the original hitch, I would definitely favor that design. I would rather sacrifice some ground clearance to still use my hitch mounted products.

    Other Apogee products in development

    - Quarter panel extensions
I think these would be a great addition to the rear bumper. However, I was curious: if these are released, will they be compatible with the current bumper? Or will this be an add-on option for a new design? If they can fit the current bumper, would I need to remove the bumper to fit them on properly?

    - High-clearance option
Waiting to see rendering of this design. Might be a better option for me.

    - Swingout option
Unless the swingout is modular, I probably won't go this route. The ability to pop on and off the ultraswing is great. Every now and again I'm hauling items longer than my bed and need to leave the tailgate down. Not an option with a permanent swingout.

I wish I was local so I could bring the RIGd Ultraswing and 1up rack by and see how they'd work together...

Any input on their compatibility would be greatly appreciated.

As for those other products in development... patiently waiting.

    Thanks for the feedback,

Unfortunately I don't see there being compatibility with the setups unless you never use your tail gate.

The only reason I say this is the fact that the ultraswing kicks up to be flush with the bumper (I'd assume for the best clearance)

Without the products in our hands, we can't guarantee an accurate fit.

There is also no way to incorporate the factory hitch receiver without extensive modification to our bumper.

Going further, the quarter panel extensions would be available as a separate kit for those who currently have the bumper, but for first time buyers, we will offer that as an option on our website.

Our rear bumper swing out will be modular, most likely with either a bolt on or weld on bracket that fits into the current BSM pocket.

The high clearance will be modular as well with our current options including the swingout.

The best I can offer is a drop down receiver adapter.

I wish you were local to test these as well, but this is the best I've got for now!

    Thanks,

    Ethan

Add a hitch receiver to the swingout portion and problem solved? Put the 1-up in that hitch receiver and sell the Rigd ultraswing. That's what I've seen done on other setups

@Apogee Offroad Thank you for the response!

Good stuff about the modular swingout options.

However, does that mean the swingout models won't have BSM compatibility?

I suppose a drop down receiver is a viable option... I mean, I won't really be towing. I'm sure it could handle the weight no problem. My concern with adding another piece would be the potential wobbling.

I agree with you on the wobbling.

And no, we're trying out best to incorporate the BSMs into the swingout as well.

I agree with Steve that adding a hitch receiver to the swing out could be done, but seeing as though its a dual swingout the hitch would be offset, making it almost useles..

Looks pretty centered on this one: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...rce-fabbed-gear.247195/page-169#post-21257211

But not saying that'll work with Apogee's :D

@tacomarin Exactly. A modular version but with blind spot monitors (and a centered hitch receiver on the swing)

And also if we can keep the cost to $250, maybe $300 max that would be great!

    Hey Ethan!

I just ordered one of these and would definitely prefer the flush look on the BSM covers. Is this an option?

The flush style BSM covers are a custom order option. We don't make them in bulk so the pricing is a little higher. If we get enough interest in them we would love to do production runs tho! Shoot us an email in regards to getting a custom set made.
