Dealer SOLD my truck - resolved

UPDATES:

1/18/21 - GM of original dealership emailed in the morning “I am waiting on confirmation for the 7570 trade. I will have something in the next few hours”

thus I was waiting.

1/18/21 - received call from Toyota corporate and Berkshire Auto CFO

• They inquired if I got a truck from Mr.Zimmerman yet (GM of dealer)
• I told them I am waiting for him to confirm
• CFO and Toyota Corporate woman offered the following:

They are offering me a Toyota DCLB offroad. White color. Msrp $39617. They will home deliver to me for $33,000

I asked color and other options. They said truck was built Thursday and it was allocated to the Berkshire group and it’s a direct offer from them. No color choice no option choice


They gave me till tomorrow to think it over

of course GM of original dealership when he comes back best will be the sr5 cement long box (what I wanted) and maybe free shipping

the toyota/Berkshire deal of course is so MUCH better. It isn’t choice if my color but for a such a saving I think I can live with Offroad.

I hope the shiny tacoma (won’t stay shiny due to farm work) happens soon enough !

I’d say it depends on if you can handle white. Otherwise $33k delivered likely means $31,5k-ish for purchase price. Seems like a heck of a discount on the TRD OR. Plus you get some nice goodies added in over the SR5.

I personally wouldn’t do it as white is the only color I specifically don’t want; but you also seem less emotionally connected to the vehicle than I would be, so you are probably in a better position to take advantage of it.

 

It's kind of funny how they said we will give you an OR no color choice take it or not . Me I would take it and hope it's a color I like and there's a chance it's cement . I think you did great , keep us posted .

 

I have a cement truck and like it a lot, but I would like white too, especially if I was getting that deal. I hope you get the truck that makes you happy.

Final update: I wrote it all out and now that I spoke to GM Zimmerman and everything is out on the table:


Original selling dealer offer:

1. SR5 Cement DCLB 4x4 , gray interior. Truck is in CA. $34,200 delivered to my house - no shipping charge. Truck is ready now .
   
2. SR5 Cement DCLB 4x4, red interior, same truck I originally bought. It’s in A allocation status. 4-6 weeks delivery to me. Has no predator steps. $34,200. They will write me a check for shipping $1500.
3. Cement OR DCLB, premium package, led headlights , moonroof, leather interior, tech package, all weather Mat. Msrp $45283. Delivered to me $35,000

Toyota corporate and Berkshire Auto CFO offer:

Absolutely not true. I'm not saying that people don't get ripped off, but their gender has nothing to do with it. Do you really think that the rip off artist would exclude 49% of opportunity? Are you really naive to think that because you are male that they would never try to take advantage of you? People that get taken advantage of are taken advantage of because they are ignorant at best. It has nothing to do with gender. There are lots of women that know about cars and even more that know how to negotiate.

As for the OP, it is unfortunate what happened and it sounds like she is on the right track. The car sales business is a nasty business, but as much as people complain, people like it.

 

Nice! I’d definitely go for the OR. I bought 19 for about that when the 20s were coming out and it was about 11% below msrp (tech etc) then and they have gone up considerably. Sounds great, white with black accents looks great!

 

I'd not let 800 bucks stand between you and the truck you wanted with more features... Go option 3 and get it in writing faxed
