So I’ve had a clunking from my front end ever since the alignment shop touched it. Turned out to be the LCA bolts and that solved the problem for a bit. Now I’ve got clunks when I’m making a tight right turn or if I jam on the brakes. (I just did pads and rotors. Clunk seems to be way louder than pads shifting) Now I’m looking at maybe it being sway bar related. Anyway while I was under the truck moving stuff around I noticed that my cv axels had a good amount of play. And I just wanted to share and see if this is normal?? Or if anyone else has this issue that can shed some light on the cv axle play. Thanks for the help. Here’s a video link of the play in the shafts

edit, truck has 5100s on 4th notch

    It’s fairly normal.
Some have more play than others.
But it not uncommon for them to have movement.
If you search “CV axle play” on this forum, you’ll get quite a few examples.

If it’s not leaking axle fluid and you are not having any vibration issues, I wouldn’t worry about it yet.

vibration issues? What kind of vibration would I be feeling if I had any, I had ko2s on before which were loud and you could definitely feel them rolling. Now I have wild peaks and the truck seems pretty smooth. There is a little vibration but I’m assuming a vibration from the front diff would be much worse? Than what just feels like tires on the road. Thanks

Like a vibration through out the whole truck (not just the steering wheel). Usually around 40-65 mph.
If the vibration goes away or decreases dramatically in 4WD, it’s usually the Needle Bearing in the front Differential. Lifted trucks are more prone to this problem. Although some stock trucks have the problem also.

You are feeling a vibration, not “hearing” it.
That’s the difference with - tire vs needle bearing noise.
