Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a replacement rubber reducer thing? The part that goes inside the fender bit. I'm hardly even sure what to google.

What about using a snorkel for a 1st Gen Tacoma?

I bought a prado 150 snorkel and hated it lol .

So I decided to fab my own. With a lot of help from pics on this thread I got started. I’m using 304 3 inch diameter stainless tubing and some couplers. This is a stock fender. I’ll take another picture of the hole tomorrow, it looks like an L to sit the bend down lower to the top of the fender.

Here are most of the pieces. 4 inch to 3 inch adapter, then a 3 inch 90 degree bend and a 3 inch coupler. I used 2 3 inch 90 degree and 1 45 degree pre bent tube to make it up to the windshield. The 3 foot section of tube is just for lining up the last bend.

I don’t know how I’m going to end the intake. I have some heavy stainless expanded metal left over from a pool job, I might weld that over the tube as a grate.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Finished for now. I tied into the factory roof rack bolt holes. This will get me through king of the hammers and some mud snow runs with the family over the next month. I plan on shortening it to above the windshield later and drilling the a Pilar for nut serts to mount it.

yes!! this one is cool way better than the hair dryer look. I was going to go with this one until I got my @upTOPoverland rack. I was not 100% sure it would integrate properly. Plus now they have something in the works that looks so sleek and will hide against the rack so I am just going to wait for that.

I have actually been eyeballing the TJM AirTec snorkel and was wondering if I can make it work with my 2nd gen. Your post with it mounted on your 3rd gives me hope. I am trying to see if I can get them to send me just a template before purchasing to see if it will work but I might just dive on it seeing how you got it to work on yours.

Reviving this thread. I now see that there is the Air Raid Snorkel which hugs the body tighter than the ARB, but is still too long for my liking. Also would love to know how tight it fits against a roof rack. https://tacomabeast.com/products/toyota-tacoma-airaid-snorkel-kit

Also, uptop overland released their uptake snorkel, but it looks like it is out of stock at the moment. I like how this one cuts less into the fender and sits lower than the rack lights. However, it does look like it interferes with your ditch light if you have one installed on a hood mount. https://www.uptopoverland.com/collections/dz-uptake

Funny, I’ve had this thread on my watch it’s for a while.

I think those two are really expensive, maybe twice as much as the ARB iirc.

I had the arb on my old pathfinder and it fit really well and the intake was swept rearward, nice clean design. The taco options look pretty clunky, at last that syklone pre-cleaner has a function.

I’m doing a build with 3.5” aluminum and some used McNeil bulged fenders.

I am learning as I go with this project and it seems the Safari snorkel ram air heads are engineered to dissipate rain water through channels and out of the bottom of the head.

Asking for opinions from the group on whether or not this design feature will work without the full Safari system. It seems like it should function the same way, but figured I’d ask before drop $116 on ORW.

Attached a picture of the current status of this project. I used the aircraft ducting from Aircraft Spruce.

Here’s the results of a snorkel in a previous Jeep after about 11,000 miles. So much for cleaner air with the snorkel.
That being said, I installed it for water crossings, not dust control.

Here’s my setup now. Not a showroom finish with the fiberglass, but I learned a lot restoring these fenders.
