    Hey fellow Tennesseans,

I’m thinking of ordering this setup soon and wondering if anyone in Knoxville knows of a good place for install, or anyone who wants to help. Can provide lunch, beer, and throw some money your way!

I know if I take it somewhere it’ll probably cost an arm and a leg, so trying to cut some pennies here and there.

    thanks in advance

@Jwilll07 Knoxville guy here. I'm trying to remember what most people do with 5100's. Are you going to move your spring over to the 5100 or do they come already assembled?

I’d be moving my spring over to the 5100.

Yeah I'm not much help with that part. Personally, I'd take it to a shop and have them move the spring over for a small fee before I did it myself. If you want help installing the coilovers once you have the spring on I'd be happy to lend a hand.

When I had my AAL installed Rocky Top Customz only charged me like 1.5 hours labor. I was going to do it myself but didn't have all the tools and anyone to help so I just decided to have them do it since they were so reasonable. It was going to cost me almost the same amount in tools.

Hey TN! I finally am getting around to doing this. I ordered my new wheels and tires and they should be here mid Jan. And will be wanting to get this installed.

I have no idea how to do this on my own; especially the spring decompression. Would anybody be willing to help? Could throw some beer and money your way if needed!

    Thanks!

My offer still stands. If you want help installing the coilovers once you've had the springs swapped I'll be happy to lend a hand. I'm not comfortable messing with a spring compressor. Your best best is to take both to a shop and have them do it. They probably won't charge you very much as it will only take them a few minutes.

Advance Auto will rent you spring compressors or you can take it to RockYour4x4 or RockyTopCustomz and have then swap the springs over. It's really not that hard or dangerous if done with the understanding of going slow and evenly.

The key is to make sure you mark the coil and top-hat alignment, before removal, with a marker or paint. It must line up perfectly to re-orient back into the truck properly. You cannot turn the top-hat once it's tight on the shock.

If you're worried just pony up and have a shop do it for you.

The rear needs to be tightened and aligned correctly to avoid thrust angle issues. A lot of people out there think you can just slap an AAL in and crank it down with an impact. No. There's play in the centering pin for a reason. You need to take measurements from the axle perch to the leaf mount on the frame and verify it's the same on both sides. This means the axle is straight under the frame. Then you need to evenly tighten all u-bolt nuts at the same rate. You should have the exact same length of thread showing on all the u-bolts when tightened to spec. If not, you've twisted your axle up slightly. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people complain of drive-line vibrations only to find their rear axle was lifted incorrectly.

Again, you're probably better off just having a reputable shop do the install if you dont have the time, space, and proper tools to do the job.

Also, while you're under the truck, check your driver's side CV axle in the front for play on the inside cup near the differential. Those bearings are known to go out and will cause excess play resulting in driveline vibrations and premature ball-joint and wheel bearing failure.

Thanks! I have some friends around Knoxville that are asking around for someone who can just do it all! Don’t mind to pay a little money to get it done.

question, I’m looking on here about Lug nuts for the TRD pro wheels. Any recommendations on some black ones that work? I’ve seen a few but just want to make sure I’m getting the right thing.

Okay would you be able to help with the AAL as well in the rear?

I called rock your 4x4 today and they’d charge 80 bucks to do the swap over, or about 600 for everything. Woah. I don’t know really how to do any of it to be honest. I’ve watched some videos online but wouldn’t want to mess with it.

Im in same boat.. waiting on my Eibach kit and Icon RXT pack to get here. I’ll have a shop assemble the front but I was considering doing the DIY garage in Knox to do the actual install. Figured it would be cheaper than paying a shop to do it and I’ll still have all the necessary tools.
