I’m debating the 884’s but I’m sorta worried it might be too harsh if I don’t have extra weight in the front. Or would it still ride nice regardless?

I think the 884’s are less heavy duty when I was doing my research but i could be wrong. At least compared to the 885 and 887’s. I have a 2WD tho and it lifts those even higher.

The answer you are looking for is this.

For ~1" of lift front, you only need 5100s (shocks). For the rear you should use an add-a-leaf. You should get new u bolts and nuts for the Add-a-leaf and new top hats for the shocks. HOWEVER, if using a spring compressor scares you (and it should), I'd recommend buying the pre-assembled shocks with either stock coils set to your desired height, or ask Marie what she suggests for pre-assembled shocks. That will save you time and stress during your install.

New rear shocks are optional, but reusing the stock shocks with the add-a-leaf is less than ideal. I reused my stock shocks and haven't had a problem, but YMMV.

You will also need an alignment afterwards.

I've kind of been looking at a 'minimal lift' myself. 2014 4x4 V6 Access Cab. I already have the Bilstein 5100's on all four corners, but everything else is stock. I have my front 5100's on the first notch for the .85" lift.

I think a good small lift would be:

    - OME 884 coils, front shocks set at 0" - should provide 1.75-2" of front lift
    - OME Dakar 'Medium' leaf package - should provide 2.5-2.75" of rear lift

This would be a somewhat small lift (i think?) and i have this priced out at just under $900 on Headstrongoffroads website.

What are everyones thoughts...? Would this not be considered a small lift?

Out of curiosity, what makes you want to raise your rear so much higher than the front? It naturally has a higher set to compensate for weight in the bed.

Raising it more than the front will only make that more pronounced.

I don't. I see what you're saying about the .5-1" rake difference in the parts i quoted. I suppose I could go with the OME 883 coils and an AAL... might get me more level with about a 1-1.5" lift. I've just heard AAL's aren't great and i haven't seen a whole leaf pack that only gives you 1.5" of lift.

Don't be scared of an AAL. I've been running a Wheelers AAL for a couple of years without issues. For the price, I couldn't ask for more.

I overloaded my stock leafs once with wet dirt in the bed of my truck a little while back and now they look flat (no U shape to them at all). I thought it would be best if i just bought whole new leaf packs. Maybe some 2016+ OEM leafs with an AAL would be good.

That's a decent solution. You might want to look into how much lift 3rd gen suspension components add to a 2nd gen. I think they will ride like .5 inches taller or something.

I’m going with 884’s but I was considering the AAL.. but now I’m wondering if I should refresh and do new leafs all around

I don't mind a rake... i actually prefer just a slight rake. Wonder if a 1" front to back difference would be super noticeable. As far as the AAL vs Leaf pack, i've always heard if you aren't hauling stuff around a lot then an AAL is fine. If you actually use your bed then a leaf pack would better than OEM. Again, i'm no pro and this could be totally wrong. I was shooting for a whole new leaf pack because i think i fubar'd my OEM ones by overloading them one time hauling a bunch of wet dirt to my house and now they are all flat looking.

I was just searching the internet for AAL information. Looks like Headstrong makes a solid 3 leaf AAL for use with OEM leaf packs that provide 1.5" lift. I may go that route with OME 883 coils up front.

Back to back to back posts, lol. However, I did end up ordering the Headstrong 3-leaf AAL and the OME 883 coils. This is like the smallest lift I could really piece together. I'll let everyone know how it turns out when the parts arrive and i can install them. I plan on doing the AAL myself but having a shop do the 883's and alignment.

    How soon?

Hope it all goes well! If I end up getting this second stimulus it may end up going towards my lift and shop fees.

Mmm, good question. Once parts arrive, i'm not known to be quick on installing them. I would say hopefully within a month.
