I suppose it depends on the locality. Very rural areas are not likely to get hassled.
But, if the LEO has a hair across his/her you know what and stops you for some other violation, it may get included with the other charge(s).

I agree... And I think it has to do with how bored the cops might be one day, OR if they're looking for a reason to pull you over.
I live very rural... I had a 79' Dodge Powerwagon for 10 years. Had a headache bar with 6 front-facing KC off-road lights on it. Never once put the covers on them. Never got hassled. Ever.
Sold it to a guy who didn't live too far away. Two weeks after he bought it, he got pulled over and nailed for not having covers on the lights. (I think he'll deny it to this day, but knowing him ... He was probably doing 20 mph over the speed limit and the cop that pulled him over just added that on as an extra-special bonus.. LOL!)
