Jeep Gladiator is a beast but Jeep needs to get a hand on the quality and price. Jeep brand is so popular they can almost charge what they like for the wranglers, gladiator and grand cherokee. People still like them even if they aren't the most dependable because of brand image.

Here the newranger is not really as popular as the Tacoma and GM mid size. I even see more Frontiers than new rangers and GM but that's probably because all look the same for 10 years. The f150 is the most popular truck overall in central Pennsylvania. There are still a good many 2000s Ford Rangers out there too.

If they made the bed 6 feet, I know I would have considred one, and having NEVER owned anything American. Something about the Jeep image that makes it desireable for me

Now that Chrysler has been bought out by

Yep they do have that strong band history and loyalty. Comes from the brand being the maker of the military Jeep in WW2.
I owned the Liberty CRD as my last vehicle. Even as bad as some said the limited US run of diesels were it held up ok except the transmission, a weak thing in many Chrysler's products and why I didn't go back.

Yep, similar over here. They are still happily running around, great trucks. Everytime i see an older ranger, i think about my 07. I still miss it. :pout:

My wife makes fun of me, because everytime i see an older ranger i go: "oh look at this nice ranger!". She says they are ugly and small, and that i should let it go, haha! Women...

Yeah my younger brother had an 2002 or 2003 in red like that. His wife convinced him to sell it not long after they got married. I know he missed it. He had said so when I said I was gonna get a new truck.

Idk, i've seen a chitload of new rangers on the roads here....not as many as those taco's, but definitely a bunch of them lately. Local water company is now using them after having taco's for years. i know one of their employees...says their awesome.

I just went from a 2005 ford ranger to a 2020 Tacoma SX. I had been in lurking for one for quite some time. I went and test drove the new Ranger and even though it was stupid fast for a midsize truck, the interior was just too much of a let down and the constant Ford Recalls are also annoying. And they IMO are a little overpriced vs the Tacoma. Picked up a RAV4 for my wife and a Taco for me. Glad I went with the tacoma despite its auto trans being stupid all the time.....(yea, yea, I know everyone says that). Still solid choice though and rides great.

The Ridgeline is the truck that covers 95% of light truck buyers needs. Quiet, comfortable, advanced torque-vectoring AWD, well mannered, handles like it’s on rails compared to every other pickup. It just doesn’t appeal to bro-douche American truck buyers because it lacks that look. And that’s okay.

I would have considered, and cross shopped, any [new] mid size truck with two doors, longer bed, and a manual.

That left me with... one option.

I don't consider a Ridgeline a 'real' truck. It's basically the Soccer Mom wanting to shed the mini-van/SUV image and shouting to her girlfriends as she's taking her kid to piano lessons 'Hey! Look! I got a REAL TRUCK you betcha'!! Vroom VROOM!! ...
In the meantime, hubby can't even bring some 2x4's home, because they're falling out of .. Ahem ... 'The Bed' ..
