At 148,000 miles Toyota installed a brand new frame per the rust recall. Heavy duty light bar. Black American Racing rims. 2006 Tacoma bucket seats.
    Hey everyone!

So in 2008 I returned my Subaru STi lease and bought my 07' Tacoma from a Toyota Dealer (Not certified) and it came with 30k miles. Got it for $11,999. *scha-wing*

The first is most recent, day by day the Taco looks like it'll belong in the next Mad Max movie, and I love that.

The latter pics are from 2014 when I lived in Los Angeles - those photos were from me considering putting it up for sale.

In the 12/13 years I've owned the truck:
2008-2012: Just paid oil changes and tires.Had to have a harness replaced because prior owner did a poor job with wheel upgrade.

    2011: Had to replace a u-joint, cost about $200.

2012: I drove the 2.4l from New York to Los Angeles and this move resulted in me needing to replace the transmission @ approx. 70k miles. It was my fault due to overloading the bed & trailer. Somewhere in texas I heard a bang, we made it to Los Angeles, I lost 2nd hear a week later and then 3rd a few months later. Drove only with 1,4,5th gears for about 1.5 years. I also spent $150 on a new battery (installed).

    Installed new head unit: $300

2013: I was moving back to NY and needed a new Tranny.
    -Used 2008 Taco Tranny w/ 10K miles = $500
-Tranny swap at Toyota = $300 (I worked at a dealership, thus the hook up)

Any money spent after ^ was solely on oil changes, alignments, battery and new wheels/tires.

All in all, the Taco was a sound investment and when the 2.4l kicks the bucket, I'd like to stuff a 2JZ-GTE 3.0l Twin Turbo in there. :)

Welcome! Better start saving for that 2JZ now. Used ones are going for $6k minimum these days. It's ridiculous

I'd pay every penny with a grin from ear to ear.
Sick. Im sure if/when I get to do this I will do a nice video documentation of the swap.

In case you do really go this route, look into a 2JZ-GE and turbo'ing it instead of going for the GTE. The NA engine is much easier and cheaper to find and internals should be able to hold up to about 450hp.
