Hey guys, I need some ideas to upgrade the suspension on my 2016 Tacoma Off Road . I am new to this stuff and don't know much about lifts but I do know I want about a 3 inch lift. I have seen some videos online and was thinking about going the same route on add a leaf, UCA, springs and shocks. My tacoma is a 2wd and I dont really go on trails but do light off roading. If anyone can please help with some different combinations with the part numbers it would be greatly appreciated.:bikewhoops:

I like that you added a eye catching picture to get our attention :)

But as to your question, Im not the best person to answer, but if you have a 2wd and do light offroading I feel like a spacer lift in the front and add a leafs in the rear would be just fine in your case.

But if you really want to improve the overall ride quality on and offroad then full struts would be a good choice. Bilstien 5100s are the common choice.

Budget is typically the biggest factor in lift options. I will simply say, don’t waste your money on expensive upper control arms, get a simple yet solid moog option like SPC or JBA.

Yes budget is a big factor and I would say my budget is at around 2k. I dont like the look of spacer lifts haha would def want full struts done to the truck.

Is that 2k budget with or without install/alignment cost?

I would say go with the 5100s then. You would be looking at around $1200 for struts and rear leafs. Leaving you with some left over for tires.

Keep in mind its only a 2 inch lift though, I know you said you want a 3 inch. 3 inch lifts usually come in with icon or king suspensions and your looking at a lot more money. Though there are a few of cheap 3 inch kits, but you will regret getting them.

Thank man, Really appreciate it. What UCA's and springs would you recommend? And thanks for the thought on the tires. Already have some 33" BFG's waiting to be mounted after the lift. Will most likely do some trimming.

5100s use the stock springs in the front. You can get other ones, but I dont know enough about suspensions to recommend that.

As for controls arms, no need to get them unless you go over 2 inches. also I dont know enough about those to recommend them either.

I do know over 2 inches you run into issues with the front driveline, but since you have 2wd you dont have to worry about that.

I’m surprised nobody mentioned spindle lift . For a 2wd tacoma, I would highly suggest spindle lifts. Your taco would look really good on it with a 33 sized tires.
