I’m still waiting on my 17” wheels that will clear the brakes. I decided to upgrade the rears with the Stoptech 4-pistons while I’m waiting. Once I have everything I will probably have it installed professionally.

I drive hard on my 17X8" wheels and only got 50k miles worth of driving until I began to feel uncomfortable, so I went to NAPA and got their $69 dollar lifetime edition front brake pads. At that rate, I'll be a long time before I could ever get my money back on an upgrade. And it only takes about 15 minutes to R&R those so why bother?

But that could just be me

    Cheers!

Noob question but is the purpose of that spindle to give you more travel without going long travel?

Looks like it's just a gusseted stock one. Gussets are for reliability and keeping them from bending

It would seem to me that aftermarket brakes would be a bigger player in the racing community than the off roading community.

I bet $20 95% of people would never notice the rear discs over the drum. Ive never had a moment where I said "this truck NEEDS better brakes". Then again my 16 was basically stock and my 21 is painfully stock.

Anybody with some machining work could make brackets to fit the large array of cheap OEM provided Brembo calipers to damned near anything.
