Solution for those pesky OEM tonneau covers is now good to go!

These brackets are beefy as hell and will allow any of my racks to be mounted over the hard factory trifold cover.

**It will NOT allow the tonneau cover to be opened but will allow the cover to be kept in place for secure cargo space along with quick and easy rack removal for those times you need to use the truck to haul larger cargo.

So the rack would have to be removed, or flipped to one side to open the OEM tonneau, but you can leave the brackets? Right?
    Thanks

    Hey Rich - correct.
When adding a bed rack, trifold covers are the worst option to have.
Flip the cover open and hold the panel vertical.
That's the shape the rack would need to be in order to maintain functionality (a giant box that sticks way out from the cab).

I build plenty of racks that function perfectly with soft rollup or retractable covers.
But to maintain function and aesthetics, trifold covers either have to go, or remain closed while the racks mounted (a good solution for people concerned with cargo security).

EDIT - the OEM cover being worse than most due to the full bed rail coverage.

I am slowly understanding the OEM trifold thing. Not that I haven't had one before, just that now I am into a Tacoma and I need both the functionality of a rack and the security of the hard tonneau.
I was looking at the soft top rack as I thought I might be able to "get away" with being to open the cover while the rack was on.
Could I go with the same brackets but a shorter rack that still flips out of the way? Or is that doable with those tonneau brackets.
This could be a win win if I can go with a shorter more "streamline" rack.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks
    Rich

If you don't have a cover yet - take a look at the BAK Revolver x4 or the like (hard rollup cover) or a retractable hard cover.
You can open both with the rack installed and maintain bed security.

It wouldn't use those brackets - they were made solely for the OEM hard style. I do different brackets for other covers (similar to the soft topper brackets).

If you have a cover already, send some pictures my way and we can go from there.

I custom build all my brackets for each order, so there won't be an issue setting you up with a rack.

Too late! I have an OEM Hard tonneau that came with the truck.

In that case - cover closed and rack installed, or rack removed and cover functional.
No in between (the rack can't flip to one side with these brackets)

Odd I missed this, but if you're here to brand bash, you're wasting your time.

THIS is far from anything I'm interested in imitating.

I have a reputation of quality I plan to maintain.
Looks like your brackets are approx 3" wide. Mine are 6".

If you'd like to improve your brackets so you don't destroy any more new trucks, you're welcome to take note of the differences and beef yours up.
Hell, in the interest of saving some people the headache that poor Gladiator owner went through, I'd be happy to send you my CAD files so you can start producing tri-fold brackets that can withstand their intended use.

I feel I should mention - I've never shared that link before or even used a brand name when discussing other, inferior tri-fold brackets with potential customers, because I strongly oppose the business strategy of :censored: talking my competitors.

Make a better product that speaks for itself is all I've been out to do.

Believe it or not, I never copied your stuff. That's not what I do.

I'd appreciate if you could conduct business with some class.
In return, I will continue to NOT mention your brand, or share that embarrassing link elsewhere.

All the best with your business.

Hi Sean, I was on your site and I have question. Will I need the brackets with a BakFlip MX4 tonneau?

Just replied to your question on the website, but I'll copy/paste it here as well.

Hey Fernando, we're currently working on brackets to work with that setup.
Bakflip covers relocate the bed rails on the Tacoma which prevents our existing brackets from working.
Expecting them to be ready for the beginning of July.
    Cheers, Sean

Thanks so much for your quick reply. My apologies for double messaging you. As I kept googling I found this post and thought I’d try here too. I’ll check back in July. Thanks again
