Not much to do to stop the flapping. Ear plugs help

I use to just leave the rain fly down on one side. It would kind of help. Maybe re-parking?

or go with a hardshell pop up. I had a tepui Ayer before. Enjoyed it but now I have hardshell that just pops up on one side. World of difference. Camped last week and in the middle of the night wind gusts up to 30-40mph. Held up fine. My friend in the ground tent kept me up with all the flapping noises though.

ive had it so bad the wind rips off the window latches and breaks the zipper. But i guess not much could help at that point.

yep, flapped around enough and broke the one dogbone piece, then continued to flap and pulled the zipper on one side up, which just kept it going to the other side.

It was an unusually windy night though. Like 30-60mph

The wind is something I have been concerned about and is definitely part of my hold up in buying a RTT

after my annoying wind "experiment" i made sure i chose something quick to set up/take down and as minimal flapping parts as i could find and no window rods. So far has been beneficial.

Just say no to window rods. I’ve seen some that come with them, but seem fine to not use.

I have a pit mix that looks like and weighs about the same. I put her on my shoulder and walk up the ladder with her head facing the tent. I go down the same way. If she's pointing the other way she struggles. She did't like it the first few times, but is fine with it now. She does like sleeping up high with her humans.

As far as being warm on cold nights, my wife just about panics if she thinks she's going to be cold. I bought her a Klymit KSB 20 and I stuff it in a large thick cheap Coleman bag. No double bagger jokes. She wears a beanie and some fuzzy socks and typical polypro top and bottom base layers. I've had her out with overnight temps in the mid teens and I haven't found her cold threshold yet with that setup. It can be hard to coax her out in the morning to get the day going.

Anyone have the 23Zero Walkabout 62” in a bed rack on a DCSB? Seems to be the biggest sleeping footprint that fits without sticking past the truck I can find. Is it worth the extra money over the Breezeway 62”? I’m planning on pulling the trigger on one later in the year to replace my 2 man Yakima Skyrise. Just not too excited about the $270-$300 shipping. Maybe a road trip for free pickup in Utah? Idk...

Rain fly off, windows rolled up, and front staked out is usually pretty quiet.
When we were out in New Mexico I also wrapped a ratchet strap around the front. You can kinda see it in the second pic.

Trying to find places that are out of the wind, backsides of hills and what not. Wont be as pretty when you wake up but it will save you some wind noise. Also keep a handful of earplugs in your bags. Wife and I keep some in our bags and it helps a ton. We tried to sleep through a night of 50mph gusts after a hard day of rain and that was enough for us to invest in a bottle of earplugs.

Im a heavy sleeper so it doesn’t really bother me. Only time it did a little was out on the beach when a storm was coming in. I was just telling pdaddy how I avoid it. But you are right.
