MPG for highway/windy driving will go down, but no worries when busting snow drifts!

I haven't had a problem on road. You get used to it. To each their own

If you had leased an off road you would't had to remove and replace the air dam in the first place.

I prefer my Sport with the air dam/spoiler on. I just like the look of it as it seems to fill out the front of the truck. I guess it really boils down to your choice of aesthetics. As long as you have a 10mm socket handy, the air dam can be removed in 10 minutes if it gets in the way of traversing an obstacle. Likewise, if you hate looking at it but want to take a long road road trip where every mpg counts you can put it back on in 10 minutes. I had mine off for one day and put it back on.

You may find this video interesting. 1 minute in, the Toyota engineer talks about the air dam.

I took mine off long time ago. Looks way better imo. Did not notice any mpg drop or noise. Truck looks a bit lifted now and your approach angle is better.

I did it to mine, with a barely detectable change in GPMs. When I added a tonneau cover I got it back and more by my math. The automatically calculated one you see at the end of the drive seems very touchy, but I do it myself every few tanks of gas. I don't regret the removal, I like how it looks now. I did as several advised and just screwed the clips right back in.

so i guess removing the air dam does not cause any kind of over heating issues like i have been told may happen? am in process of truck build, one of which is arb`s hiline series bumper, and was told that just yesterday. so no problem`s ???

    i`m aiming for this...

I like the dam/spoiler on the sport as well. Honestly, I don't even notice it. I have seen trucks with it off, but officially placing myself in the leave-it-on camp.

I hear off roading the air dam can be a problem?

The air dam was built on your Tacoma for this reason...to help with the EPA fuel economy ratings...
Like most people say ..We brought this truck not for the fuel economy...

    Aloha

I removed mine shortly after I got it. You can see my before and after...not too concerned about mileage, minimal.

I've busted through some high road side snowbanks and that air dam is still in one piece.
