Roadmaster Suspension

I didn't really do a search yet but was just wondering the pros/cons of this set up and if this has been discussed here. Seems it helps with body roll, towing and axle wrap. A little pricey but might be worth it.

Interesting, I guess it would help carry a little heavier load by preventing the springs from flattening out. Or, rather, keep the rear from sagging while carrying heavier loads.

 

I have that setup on my 1999 F150. I installed it to compensate for the increased tongue weight when I towed my enclosed toy-haulers. It helped but I wasn't satisfied with the overall towing of the truck so i bought a bigger truck.

 

Ive been thinking about trying this. Only reason I have not yet is because it will lift your rear end a bit. There’s some talk about it in the customtacos boards with good things to say.

 

I will add that I’m not after increasing load. I’m after the anti sway and anti wrap characteristics. There’s a few videos of a F150 eco boost that uses it for better traction and it even helped with their drag times.

 

I just installed these today on my 09, very happy with them. Easy to install and they work well so far.

 

well... did they raise the rear ended any?

And how about the anti roll anti wrap?

is the ride any harsher on those MA roads?

 

I set mine to the white disk/1mm setting. They come with white (1mm) and black (2mm) and that’s how they instruct you to preload the spring. On the lower of the 2 my ride has improved and isnt harsh at all. If anything it’s smoother now than before. Less bounce over bumps and less body roll while cornering. Raised the rear a little over 1/2 an inch. I would guess that if I set it to the higher preload setting I’d get about an inch, assuming that twice the preload will give me twice the height increase.

I haven’t had any weight in it yet so I may end up increasing the preload but for now I’ll keep it. I never had much axle wrap before so I’m not sure if it’s done anything there.

hellwig 550 helper springs before and those helped with the axle wrap but made the ride harsher, not nearly as smooth as these RAS springs. The install was very easy, the hardest part was getting the truck lifted and on jack stands. After that it was easy. I didn’t take my wheels off either, really no need to do that at all. I do t remember what my 01 shocks were like but on my 09 the instructions say to disconnect the passenger side lower shock but I didn’t have to do that either.
