Is there any brand that looks better, fits better, or things I don’t know about? I just ordered a
1 UP bike rack. Also need to take the lawn mower in for service once a year.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
If I had to add a hitch receiver to my Taco, I'd go with Curt or Reese.

If you're going to tow a small flat-deck trailer and a lawn tractor (say <500#), perhaps you can just get a way with installing a ball in your bumper and adding the electrical (4 conductor). While limited capacity, if the GVWR of the trailer is <3,500# you should be good.

If there is no hole in the bumper for a hitch ball (I suspect that there is), then you'll be looking for a receiver.

I bought a Curt through etrailer.com. I also picked up the T-Tap wiring harness at the same time, along with a combo 7-pin/4-pin connector (although I still need to wire up the last 3 connectors). It’s a nice low profile hitch, and the height turned out to be almost perfect on my stock 4x4 for my straight 3 ball hitch left over from my last truck.

I ended up using Draw-Tite, local auto zone had one and matched etrailer price. Fit and install was a breeze. Holding one end with my knee and starting a bolt on the other was fun.

Correction, I went with the Draw-Tite. Fits well with the stock bumper.

I have a 2015 tacoma base 2.7, it is equipped to have a ball on the bumper but I was surprised that it didn't come with a wire/to trailer connect. Something I took for granted in my previous trucks? Also there isn't a hook or loop to attach a safety chain to when towing. Hauling and towing are what trucks are designed for right?

I learned the hard way about using the bumper mount hitch. Running over a rough road with a utility trailer loaded relatively lightly broke the bumper mounts.

I have mounted several trailer hitches, different brands. All worked well.

That's great to know thanks bud, I'll be looking into a hitch now. I've had a Dakota and an f150 and never had a problem with the bumper mount,

A plate mounted receiver hitch would be fine for really light weight trailers(pachyderm etc) or bike racks but if you’re anywhere near the 3500 lb bumper limit it’s safer to go with a frame mounted 2” receiver. The leverage 1-1/2 tons or more can exert on that relatively thin plate is cause for concern.
