2013 Tacoma just locked up???

    The thing that’s missing from this thread is that the OP never bothered to get out and look at the skid marks to see which wheel or wheels locked up. There’s a huge difference in possibilities depending on if it’s 1, front 2, rear 2, or all 4.

    Any chance your left foot gets "lazy" and you inadvertently set the parking brake, then release it?

    You have a brake caliper or a rear shoe not retracting and it's heating up and causing the issue. It also could be an internally collapsed flex brake hose. Also closely inspect the emergency brake system for rust and free movement, if it doesn't retract completely, the shoes will drag enough on the drum to cause lock up.

    You really don't want it to be some other much more expensive part of the brake system.

    It's really the only part of the drive train that can lock up and then release after it cools.
