I researched this forever and here is where I ended up. Only offering this in case it helps. Of course, this is one person's opinion -- this works for me and may not work for you.

First, I don't need rock sliders at this point. I do go off-road, and I like rock sliders but they are overkill for what I need. Offroading here in the Northeast and northern Canada (especially Quebec) I just don't encounter the kind of trails where they are needed. I still like rock sliders and may get them if I do more rugged off roading but I don't need them yet.

Second, I liked the standard Toyota side steps and researched them. Not a fan of the Predator steps. Love the look. Like the idea. But they always seemed a bit off to me. Meaning the front step is too far forward where you would plant your foot and hoist yourself up. I have two friends with them on their trucks. One loves them. One hates them. So I passed on those. I did like the rounded tube steps ... but the Toyota ones cost far more than they need to. Again, my opinion.

Third, purchased 5 inch rounds ones from Running Board Warehouse. They cost like a third of the Toyota OEM steps and I like them. Beefy. Plenty of space for my wife and kid to use and the overall cost was pretty low. I figured I would try them and keep them on the truck until I decide if I need sliders or find something better. Overall, super happy with these. And, really like the folks at Running Board Warehouse. Great customer service.

Just a little background in case anyone finds that useful ...

My truck came with the factory tube steps and I had the same exact problem.

I bought these steps and am happy with them so far: https://www.amazon.com/APS-Aluminum...-21317--8-1---&vehicleName=2020+Toyota+Tacoma

Also, they are aluminum so if you get a chip in the paint they don't rust.

Here is a picture of them on my DCSB Sport.

Did you go steel? I had the OEM tubes on my totaled 09 and they had some corrosion, hence my getting the aluminum OEM ones. Also, I couldnt retrieve them from Copart where my truck was towed. GLWS they should go quick.

No hurry to sell them. Not interested in shipping them. Too painful these days.

I installed the iBoards. Although they have a nice clean look and super easy to install, I've found them to be a bit too high to add any step-in\step-out value. I am debating replacing them with something more functional in the spring.

I was thinking of 6" wide (dropped 3" below the rocker with full length back-plates), aluminum, (squared off to the wheel wells, so custom mud flaps can be formed to them) full running boards, from wheel well to wheel well.
Problem is, I can't track anything down that grabs me.
    Or 5" Aluminum Nerf Bars.

I just received my SR5 Double cab a week ago with the "Cast Aluminum Running Board" and decided that I do not like them.
I talked to my dealer and they say they cannot swap for the "Predator Tube Steps" because the window sticker includes them. They said they would talk to the Service manager to see if they have the Predators on a Used Truck to swap, so far the only ones located were not in very new like condition.
I would like to swap, I'm in the central Indiana area if anyone is interested.
The Cast Aluminum are PN: PT76735160 msrp $795
The Predator Tube Steps are PN: PT925-35170 msrp $649

These are the ones I have. I like them a lot. They work well for ingress and egress as well as providing a platform to wash the top of my truck. I don’t bang my leg on them either. I highly recommend these if it fits your need.

When you getting out of truck is it too wide that you have to watch out for them ?

I like the look better than predator ... but am worried since the font drop down enough can it really b used as a steps?
