4 people are enough? do you leave it resting on the bed sides til you reach the point when it pivots, and slide/guide it down, or fully lift it up then lower it down?

When i had asked AT about it before getting mine, they recommended 4-6 people to do it by hand.

Its only like 300-350# and can probably be done with 2 people if they drink a couple beers beforehand. Otherwise, 1 person on each side and 1 person upfront in the bed should be able to do it.

I havent lifted mine completely off but i have moved it around by myself by lifting it up from the inside by the floor with the top closed.

EDIT: I have helped install a vagabond drifter by hand. We had a bunch of people there so it was very easy. Offer pizza and beer and help will come.

You could try slipping 2x8 wooden boards which are 2-3 feet wider than the camper, under the base of the camper, and then have a few friends lift the boards up (and thus raising the camper) as the truck is driven forward.

This would then allow those holding the camper up to simply lower it safely to the ground. I learned this trick during my last life when i was an Egyptian pyramid builder, obviously.

That is a good idea, Probably could even use some saw horses or some other sort of stand on each side, and if need be do it all yourself by jacking up small amounts at a time on each side and slipping 2x4s under there.

This is what I was thinking for lowering it, just wasn't sure how i'd come up with enough strong guys to handle it, lol.

Something like that was my original thought when planning to swap from truck to truck, but once it was decided to just drop onto a trailer wasn't sure how it would work.

In the end, it sounds like the gentleman purchasing my Habitat has access to a forklift! Gonna make my life soooo much easier. Gonna be sad to see it go, but on to the next version of the build, right?

This is from the post @sawbladeduller mentioned of @Rude1's setup to swap from truck to truck.

Over GVWR and I keep adding more metal
Me too, and GF even smaller.

I put my welding table behind the truck. Lifted up the camper by standing up inside it (and laying on my back kicking up), and slid PVC 1" pipe between bedrail and camper, placed 3 or 4 and leap frogged as it slid backwards. Once we reached the tipping point, just a couple spacers and it was off with almost zero lifting

These worked for me:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K118ZM4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I looked high and low for something better, i don't want back lit at all. Don't want the parasitic draw. I'm just running a few of those stick on LED strips off each of the switches. Anything more than .5amps you'd probably want a higher rated swtich. I have some other switches coming.

Flag connectors helped everything fit in the posts :https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KN6R37N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is a pretty tight fit if you use the standard straight connectors.

I used these instead of the cigarette type adapter and updated the plugs on the fridge to work :https://powerwerx.com/panelpole-panel-mount-powerpole-housing I had the cigarette adapter slip out once and now I don't have to worry about the plug sliding out when bouncing down the road. I also rigged up a LED light, split a 1 1/4" piece of pvc and added 3 of those little stick on LED strips, then wired an inline switch to a plug. I use velcor straps to strap it to the top/middle tent support bar and plug it in.
