Has anyone installed a higher output alternator in place of the stock 80 amp denso? I have noticed my voltage will drop at idle if i don't increase the revs while i have my ARB twin compressor kicked on. I'd like to look into other options with more output at idle. Overall max output is not too important. If anyone has upgrade their alternator on a 2TR-FE 2nd gen Tacoma, please let me know with what you went with and how it's working out for you.

An option you do have, is to "force"/trick the alternator into charging at a slightly higher voltage overall, you can get a voltage boosting fuse that tricks the alternator into thinking it's alsightky colder than it is and it boosts the voltage by about .5 volts at all time. This is helpful if you are running a AGM battery. Increasing the alternator output won't do anything for voltage, yes it increase amps but it won't change the voltage due to the ECU being in control of that. With those High output alternators they are just like the factory ones. At idle they really don't produce much, even getting a 200amp alternator really doesn't effect the output produced at idle. You get those higher numbers when it's cold and you have the engine up around 4500-5000rpm.
