So I've never created a major thread like this so if I'm doing something wrong please tell me and I will correct it.

A little about me and why I am creating this.

I just turned 32, I live in the Chicago land area. Want to make others aware and have insite in a not so talked about area. I have always known i was adopted and I never knew who my birth parents were until about 18 months ago. I will get into more discussion about that if the thread catches on.

As a part of my journey of knowing a little more about my adoption i came to realize I would like to talk to others that have been in my situation or on the other side to get their input. I looked for months and there isnt much out there for people talk about their situation. I do not have a Facebook or use any other from of social media. A guy at work suggested a Facebook discussion forum. I'm on here a lot so I thought I'd give it a shot. So if you have any input at all or would like to talk at all don't be afraid.

A birthmother's commitment to life and her selfless sacrifice allows me to be a father to 3 amazing children. They all have known since a very early age the circumstances surrounding how our family was formed. My wife and I are forever grateful that we accepted God's plan for the 5 of us. God bless you in your journey

For what it's worth, I was a die hard bachelor, until I hit 34. Then I met a women that had a 4 year old daughter, and we moved in together. One day she asked me if I was her daddy, and I told her, no sweety I'm not. She asked me if she could call me daddy, even though we weren't married at the time. Later after we'd been married about 4 years, I adopted my wife's daughter when she was 7or 8 years old. One day she came into the living room with a really sad look on her face. when I asked her what's wrong, she told me, that sissy's last name is the same as mine, and so was mommy's , but mines not. I'm not part of the family. Man that broke my heart in 2. I told her we could change that, and let me talk to mommy about it. So to cut to the chase, I adopted her less than six months later. Her birth dad never hesitated to sign the papers. He never had anything to do or be any part of her life. He contacted her when she was 18. They talked on the phone for about 30 minutes. She told me later, that he was sorry that he didn't do better, and she told him that she has a dad, and he's been the best dad ever. Sad thing is he died less than 2 weeks later. She was upset about it, but I told her at least, you had the chance to talk to him one more time before his demise. I've never regretted Adopting her, never not even once. She's turned out to be more like me, than my biological daughter. Funny how things turn out.

Well I personally think adoption is an awesome thing obviously for the child and for those who cannot have children. However may be just me this day and age but I think if your going to do this the ideal scenario is a man and a woman adopting. Sure anyone can show love but to get the complete package seems to work best. That can fail too but if it’s done right it has the overall best results. Mainly chiming in on this rather than that though. My wife’s cousin was alone in life and was able to adopt an infant by herself. I do not think she knows her birth parents and haven’t heard otherwise. However now that’s she is 17 and her mother should’ve known better and disciplined her.. that kid is horrible! She has harmed her mom hitting her and just runs amok. She is a pretty girl and I’m sure is a nightmare to several dumb sons families. Whoever marries her has “F’d” up deluxe! Anyway lack of discipline, a strong male influence and being taught morality best taught at Church and trying to just be a friend instead of a parent has yielded an adoption disaster! Sorry to say but what a mess and wife’s cousins family did nothing to correct the ongoing mistakes. Weird family of Ostriches they all stick their heads in the sand hoping problems will go away. However ostriches are smarter than them.
