Anyone do this before? I want to wrap the silver trim, but figured id ask before I broke a plastic tab or accidentally deployed an airbag. Thanks!

Yes. I dont need to unhook anything under it. Just need to reveal the screws that are holding the trim in under it

Follow this for the steering controls part:

DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY Negative terminal FIRST.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2014-steering-wheel-control-install.362309/

You do NOT need to remove the wheel. There are 2 little plastic covers on the sides of the steering wheel. One sits around cruise control knob if you have cruise control. Pop the covers to reveal the t30 torx bolts. Unbolt them and now you can pull the airbag. Just set it gently on top of the steering wheel. Now you can see the Phillips screws holding the controls on. Unbolt those and any wire harness to the controls and now you can remove them.
