For those with 265/70r17 on stock rims with no lift, how's the clearance when towing?

    Hey all,

I've got a bone stock 2016 4dr sport and I'm about to throw some 265/70r17's on my stock rims.

I'm curious, for those who are using a similar setup and still tow, how's the squat and clearance? We've got a Apex Nano that's about 3500lbs that we use quite a bit and I'm wondering if I should lift the truck an inch before our next trip.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers!

Nothing to worry about with rear tires, you can put huge tires back there stock and it won't change anything. You're only adding 0.5" on radius with that tire upgrade.

Rear squat is an issue with Tacoma regardless, so helper springs, add-a-leaf, or sumo springs are all options that can be considered that will help towing.

    same shit as everyone else
Maybe consider Sumo Springs or something similar like mentioned above instead of lifting. My truck is lifted about an inch front and back and I never tow but I do haul when I go camping. It's basically right at the GVWR when loaded up and the Sumo Springs I got really help control the load and rebound in the rear. They were great on the trail this weekend. Can't speak personally about long term durability or towing though. I did see lots of stock rig folks who used these for towing when I was doing initial research. Air bags are an option too but not for my uses/needs. Good luck!

No worries, put 265/70 R17 Toyo RTs on and towed our 4800lb Hideout all summer..
